Major Purge Targets Key Players in January 6 and Trump Probe Cases

President Donald Trump’s long-promised cleanup of the FBI is happening — and it’s hitting some of the most politically controversial figures in the bureau. In a move insiders are calling “unprecedented” and “long overdue,” multiple senior FBI officials tied to investigations of Trump and his allies are being forced out, Fox News has confirmed.

Who’s Out — and Why It Matters

Among those shown the door:

  • Brian Driscoll – Former acting FBI director before Kash Patel’s appointment, involved in top-level decision-making during the Trump investigations.
  • Walter Giardina – Special agent who helped prosecute Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro.
  • Steven Jensen – Acting head of the Washington Field Office, deeply tied to the January 6 investigations.

All three were told to leave by Friday, with no official reason given. However, a source close to the matter described it plainly: “This is retribution.”

More Firings Expected

According to Fox News sources, this is only the first wave. More FBI personnel are expected to be removed before the week’s end. Their names and roles have not yet been made public, but the shake-up is already causing panic inside the bureau.

When questioned during a Thursday press conference, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro refused to comment — further fueling speculation about a behind-the-scenes reckoning.

The Controversial January 6 Purge

The firings follow months of rising tension within the FBI. In February, bureau leadership sent out a sweeping questionnaire to thousands of employees, asking if they had participated in any way in the January 6 Capitol riot investigations — from giving testimony to handling evidence.

Critics immediately warned the form could be weaponized to target and retaliate against agents based on political motives. Those fears exploded when then–Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove ordered a master list of every FBI employee tied to January 6 cases.

This internal list allegedly included thousands of names, along with identifying numbers, current positions, and the exact roles agents held during the investigation.

FBI Agents Fight Back

Nine current FBI agents and employees have already filed a lawsuit in federal court, arguing the list could destroy careers and cripple the agency’s ability to operate in all 52 of its field offices nationwide.

Former Justice Department officials warn that such politically charged purges could undermine law enforcement morale and damage public trust — though many Americans believe the FBI’s credibility has already been compromised.

Trump’s Promise to “Straighten It Out”

Back in February, President Trump refused to say outright whether his administration would fire FBI employees tied to January 6. Instead, he repeated his belief that the bureau was “corrupt” and expressed confidence that newly confirmed FBI Director Kash Patel would “straighten it out.”

Now, Patel appears to be doing exactly that — delivering on Trump’s vow to hold the FBI accountable and end what many conservatives see as years of politically motivated investigations.

What This Means for America

This sweeping purge marks a turning point in the battle over the FBI’s future. Supporters see it as the first real step toward restoring trust in federal law enforcement, while critics claim it’s political revenge. Either way, the message is clear: The Deep State is on notice.
