People are finally coming to their senses after Trump put his foot down.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently made a public statement expressing regret over his recent meeting at the White House and indicated his readiness to pursue peace talks under the leadership of former President Donald Trump. Zelenskyy took to social media to emphasize that Ukraine is prepared to come to the negotiating table in an effort to end the ongoing conflict with Russia.
The Ukrainian leader described the meeting at the White House as a setback, acknowledging that it “did not go the way it was supposed to.” He urged for a fresh start and said it was time to correct the course. Zelenskyy expressed his willingness to work with President Trump, whom he believes can provide the strong leadership needed to secure lasting peace.
“My team and I are prepared to move swiftly to end the war,” Zelenskyy stated. He outlined an initial plan that includes the release of prisoners, a ceasefire in the skies, and a ban on attacks involving missiles, long-range drones, and bombs targeting civilian infrastructure. He emphasized that these steps should be taken in parallel with a ceasefire at sea, provided that Russia reciprocates. Zelenskyy further suggested that the next stages of peace talks should move quickly, with the U.S. playing a pivotal role in negotiating a final agreement.
Zelenskyy also took the opportunity to acknowledge and thank the United States for its unwavering support of Ukraine’s sovereignty, specifically mentioning the Javelin missile systems provided under Trump’s administration as a turning point in the war. “We truly value America’s assistance, especially when President Trump gave Ukraine Javelins,” he remarked.
In his statement, Zelenskyy expressed hope that future cooperation between Ukraine and the U.S. would be constructive, especially regarding a potential security agreement. He stated that Ukraine is ready to sign such an agreement whenever the U.S. is prepared.
This announcement came after national security advisor Mike Waltz criticized Zelenskyy’s past disagreements with Trump, calling them “ridiculous” during an interview. Waltz emphasized that Zelenskyy’s regret and his willingness to engage in peace talks were crucial for moving forward. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has yet to comment on Zelenskyy’s proposed peace plan, though it was reported that Trump had recently paused all military aid to Ukraine until the Ukrainian government demonstrates a commitment to genuine peace negotiations. This decision was framed as a temporary pause, not a permanent termination of support.
Zelenskyy’s statement aligns with recent proposals from European leaders, such as U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, who have suggested a temporary freeze on military actions in Ukraine to create space for wider peace talks. While Zelenskyy’s tone appears conciliatory, the ultimate success of these diplomatic efforts will depend on Russia’s willingness to negotiate in good faith, as well as the continued engagement of the U.S. under future leadership.
We do not want to be involved in a security agreement. Our military should not be sent to defend the Ukraine. If Zelensky is willing to sign the proposed mineral agreement so that we have a possibility of getting this exchanged for the huge amount of money that we have loaned them, then the American people would be OK with it but just to keep pouring money into an endless war in another country is ludicrus
If he stays away from the demorats and ignores their instructions this time, perhaps a settlement can be made to return his country to peace and begin rebuilding. I don’t think that TRUMP will make more then one attempt to get past any disagreement they may have had.
