It’s good to see leaders unifying to call out Newsom.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Joins the Fight Against Newsom’s Power Grab
Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has broken his silence — and he’s not holding back. In a fiery interview on CNN’s State of the Union, the Hollywood legend slammed Gov. Gavin Newsom’s so-called “temporary” redistricting plan, calling it a “total fantasy” designed to lock Democrats into permanent power.
“When they say it’s temporary, there is no such thing,” Schwarzenegger said. “The longest programs in government are the ones that start as ‘temporary.’ Whether it’s taxes or redistricting — once it begins, it never ends.”
Democrats Push Proposition 50 — and Critics See a Massive Power Grab
The controversy centers around Proposition 50, a measure pushed by Newsom that would redraw congressional districts and potentially hand Democrats up to five new seats in Congress.
The timing is no accident. As President Donald Trump strengthens Republican chances nationwide, Democrats are scrambling to offset GOP gains in states like Texas, Florida, and Ohio. Even Barack Obama has stepped into the fight, giving his public endorsement of Newsom’s plan.
But Schwarzenegger isn’t fooled.
“By 2032, when the so-called independent commission returns, they’ll say, ‘There’s still gerrymandering in Texas or Florida — we have to keep going.’ They’ll always find an excuse. It’s total fantasy.”
“The American People Are Being Cheated”
Newsom fired back at critics with a dismissive remark: “Spare me the moral high ground.”
But Schwarzenegger doubled down, saying Democrats are “cheating the American people” through political manipulation rather than fair competition.
“Democrats should try to outperform Trump. Competition creates performance,” he said. “But instead of earning votes, they’re redrawing the lines to guarantee victory — even if they fail the people they serve.”
The former governor warned that this kind of manipulation undermines democracy and violates the spirit of the Constitution.
“If you truly believe in democracy, why would you rip up California’s Constitution to keep your party in power? It makes no sense.”
Standing Tall — Schwarzenegger Sends a Message to Both Parties
The Terminator star took his message directly to social media, sharing a photo from the gym wearing a T-shirt that read “Terminate Gerrymandering.” The post quickly went viral, earning praise from conservatives and independents alike who are tired of California’s one-party rule.
Despite their political differences, Schwarzenegger said he and Newsom remain cordial — but their visions for California couldn’t be further apart.
“We talk about it respectfully, but I’ll keep speaking out when something’s wrong,” he said.
A New Conservative Voice Rises in California
As California faces economic decline, population loss, and rising costs, many conservatives see Schwarzenegger’s challenge to Newsom as a rare moment of courage from a figure once celebrated by both parties.
While not always aligned with Trump, Schwarzenegger’s latest stand signals growing frustration among Californians who feel cheated by Sacramento’s political games.
With 2026 approaching fast, the battle over fair elections, redistricting, and the balance of power could shape the future of both California — and the nation.
