This is infuriating.
Democrat Leader Dismisses Crime Crisis While Enjoying Taxpayer-Funded Security
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer sparked outrage Wednesday after brushing off concerns over violent crime in Washington, D.C., mocking Republicans and declaring he feels “perfectly safe” in the Democrat-run capital.
In an appearance on the left-leaning podcast The Parnas Perspective, Schumer was asked about President Donald Trump’s bold move to federalize D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department and deploy 800 National Guard troops to restore public safety.
“No, I’m not scared,” Schumer boasted. “I walk around all the time… I feel perfectly safe.”
For many Americans — especially those living in cities plagued by rising violent crime, drug trafficking, and gang activity — Schumer’s casual dismissal underscores just how out of touch Washington Democrats have become.
Trump Takes Action While Democrats Downplay Dangers
President Trump announced his law-and-order intervention on Monday, citing a need to stop the crime wave that has driven assaults, robberies, and drug busts in the nation’s capital.
- Since August 7, D.C. police have made over 100 arrests — including 43 arrests in a single day.
- Many of these crimes involve repeat offenders released under soft-on-crime policies favored by Democrats.
Republicans argue these numbers prove Trump is acting to protect American citizens, while Schumer appears more interested in political jabs than public safety.
Schumer’s Attack: Calling GOP “Full of It”
Rather than acknowledge the crime crisis, Schumer accused Republicans of exaggerating danger in D.C., calling their concerns “full of it” and claiming Trump’s crackdown is a “distraction” from the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Senate Democrats have been pressing Trump to release all Epstein-related files — an issue Schumer promised to “hammer” after Congress returns from its August recess.
White House Hits Back: ‘Out-of-Touch Liberal’
The Trump administration swiftly fired back.
“Chuck Schumer, another out-of-touch liberal, enjoys the comfort of full-time, taxpayer-funded security,” said Special Assistant to the President Harrison Fields. “For the rest of America, who face the realities of crime in Democrat-run cities without an armed detail, they welcome President Trump’s tough-on-crime approach that is Making America Safe Again.”
The Big Picture: Two Visions for America
The divide is clear:
- Trump’s America — restoring safety, empowering police, and holding criminals accountable.
- Schumer’s Washington — downplaying crime while hiding behind elite security privileges.
With violent crime, drug overdoses, and repeat-offender violence plaguing many Democrat-led cities, voters are left asking: Whose side are our leaders really on?
