Schumer caught lying again.
Senator Chuck Schumer continues to attack gun owners’ rights—this time by spreading false claims about firearm suppressors. But under the leadership of President Donald Trump, real progress is being made to defend the Second Amendment and protect American freedoms.
The House of Representatives, with President Trump’s strong support, recently passed a critical piece of common-sense firearms legislation—a “big, beautiful bill” that includes the Hearing Protection Act. This bill is a game-changer for law-abiding gun owners across the country.
If passed by the Senate and signed into law by President Trump, the Hearing Protection Act would remove suppressors from the outdated restrictions of the 1934 National Firearms Act (NFA). Right now, suppressors are treated like dangerous weapons, requiring a $200 tax, long waiting periods, and unnecessary federal oversight.
It’s government overreach at its worst—and Democrats are desperate to keep it in place.
Suppressors: A Safety Tool, Not a Threat
Despite what the mainstream media and Democrat leaders like Schumer would have you believe, suppressors do not silence firearms. That’s a Hollywood myth.
Suppressors reduce the noise level to protect the hearing of shooters and those around them, but guns still make plenty of sound. Most suppressed firearms still require hearing protection, especially in larger calibers.
Schumer’s recent comments were completely detached from reality:
“The only people who want silencers are criminals because they don’t want people to hear their bad, horrible, deadly deeds.”
False. The people who use suppressors are law-abiding gun owners, hunters, veterans, sport shooters, and even police officers. Many in law enforcement carry suppressed weapons to protect their hearing during close-quarters engagements.
Suppressors are not a luxury—they are a basic safety tool, no different than eye protection or earplugs.

Schumer and Murphy: Misleading the Public
Senator Chris Murphy already made headlines for misleading claims about suppressors, and now Schumer is doubling down on the same tired talking points. It’s clear the anti-gun lobby would rather spread fear than admit the facts.
The truth? Criminals don’t use suppressors. Why? Because they’re expensive, heavily regulated, and difficult to obtain illegally. The typical street criminal isn’t investing in tax-stamped firearm accessories.
Meanwhile, everyday Americans are left to suffer the consequences of outdated gun control laws that do nothing to reduce crime, but everything to punish legal gun ownership.
President Trump: Restoring Common Sense
President Trump has once again proven that he stands with patriotic Americans, hunters, sportsmen, and all who cherish their Second Amendment rights. This bill is not just about firearms—it’s about freedom, safety, and ending decades of bureaucratic nonsense.
With the Hearing Protection Act moving forward, it’s time for the Senate to follow the House’s lead. Let’s give Americans back their right to protect their hearing—without being treated like criminals.
