Russia had some very interesting words.

Russia recently indicated that President Trump’s foreign policy aligns closely with its own strategic vision, signaling potential shifts in international relations. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov commented that the new U.S. administration is “rapidly changing all foreign policy configurations,” which he said “largely aligns with our vision.”

These remarks come on the heels of a significant meeting between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which resulted in the signing of an agreement concerning rare earth minerals—an important step that could potentially help bring an end to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. However, the meeting took a dramatic turn, with tempers flaring between Trump, Zelensky, and Vice President Vance. The situation escalated into a shouting match, which surprised the international community, especially after increasing tension between Trump and Ukraine regarding how the war had been managed.

Trump’s position, which often includes favorable comments about Russian President Vladimir Putin, has raised concerns about sidelining Ukraine in peace discussions. This dynamic pushed Zelensky to seek a meeting with the White House in hopes of securing further support. Meanwhile, European leaders quickly engaged with Zelensky, offering their backing and seeking a new course forward without the direct involvement of the United States.

Peskov suggested that Trump’s approach could foster new progress in U.S.-Russia relations, after years of tension and sanctions under the Biden administration. He acknowledged that much damage had been done to bilateral relations but emphasized that with the right political will from both Trump and Putin, progress could be swift and successful.

The tense exchange between U.S. and Ukrainian leaders at the meeting led Peskov to criticize Zelensky, suggesting that the Ukrainian president was ungrateful for the assistance provided by the U.S. and had no real desire for peace.
