Democrat-run cities are in crisis.
Since 2020, thousands of police officers have left the force, walking away from unsafe jobs and weak political leaders. The result? A dangerous crime wave hitting major blue cities across America.
Police Exodus Hits Blue Cities Hard
Joe Gamaldi, vice president of the National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), said far-left city councils and mayors have betrayed their officers. “Police officers aren’t stupid. They know they’ll be thrown under the bus at any moment,” he told Fox News Digital.
Since 2020, the numbers have collapsed:
- Chicago lost more than 1,500 officers.
- Baltimore lost 20% of its entire force.
- Los Angeles dropped over 1,100 officers.
- New York City is still short nearly 2,500 officers.
Trump’s Law-and-Order Agenda
President Donald Trump has already federalized the D.C. police to stop spiraling crime — and hinted at takeovers in other Democrat cities.
“Republicans are the party that wants to stop crime. Democrats are the party of crime,” Trump declared. “It’s just common sense.”
Violent crime dropped immediately in Washington, D.C., after Trump’s action, a change that Gamaldi called a “huge victory.”
Why Officers Are Leaving Democrat Cities
According to Gamaldi, the anti-police agenda pushed during the 2020 “Summer of Love” riots destroyed morale. Cities excused riots as “mostly peaceful” while police officers were vilified, indicted, and driven out.
“If you follow the law, do your job, and still get fired or smeared, why would you stay?” Gamaldi asked.
That’s why police are leaving Democrat-run cities and moving to communities that support law enforcement.
Lower Standards, Higher Crime Risk
With thousands gone, departments are offering massive bonuses — up to $100,000 in California — and still can’t fill cadet classes.
Veteran officers are retiring, taking decades of experience with them. Gamaldi warned: “Lowering training standards will hurt policing for years to come. The chickens will come home to roost.”
The Bottom Line
Democrat cities abandoned law and order — and Americans are paying the price. President Trump’s law-and-order policies are proving effective, but the fight is far from over.
Unless bold action continues, the crime crisis in America’s blue cities could get even worse.
