The Obama team is panicking.
Washington, D.C. — Two top Obama-era intelligence officials are scrambling to defend themselves as President Trump’s Justice Department turns up the heat in its investigation into what many are calling the most corrupt political scandal in modern history.
Former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper issued a panicked public response Wednesday after being accused of manipulating intelligence reports to fuel the now-debunked Russia collusion narrative that haunted President Trump’s first term.
“That is patently false,” the pair wrote in a New York Times essay, trying to dismiss the growing evidence. “We want to set the record straight and, in doing so, sound a warning.”
But critics say it’s too little, too late.
Trump’s Intel Chiefs Uncover Political Plot
Trump-appointed Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has laid out what she says is a deeply troubling pattern of abuse by the Obama administration. She claims Brennan, Clapper, and others helped craft a “contrived narrative” — a false story that Russia interfered in 2016 to help Trump — setting off years of political chaos, costly investigations, and media hysteria.
President Trump himself has been blunt: “What they did was serious treason.”
Obama Allies Deny Wrongdoing — But Their Story Keeps Changing
In their editorial, Brennan and Clapper pointed to a Senate Intelligence Committee report as so-called proof that their actions were justified. But many Americans remember how that very report confirmed no actual evidence of collusion between Trump and Russia — despite the media’s relentless efforts to say otherwise.
They also claimed that the infamous Steele Dossier — funded by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee — played no direct role in their assessment. Yet they admitted the unverified document was included as a “classified annex,” raising serious questions about transparency and intent.
Backpedaling on Election Interference
Even more telling, Brennan and Clapper acknowledged they never found any evidence that Russia changed votes in 2016 — directly contradicting the panic narrative spread by mainstream media for years.
“We found no evidence that the Russians changed any actual votes,” they admitted — a statement buried deep in their defensive op-ed.
Doubling Down on Media Spin
Now back in their comfort zones, Brennan and Clapper are making the rounds on CNN and MSNBC, calling the Trump administration’s findings “baseless” and “distorted.” Brennan even claimed he was “clueless” as to why he was being investigated — a statement many conservatives view as laughable.
Incredibly, the pair accused Trump’s team — including Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe — of “politicizing intelligence,” even as their own actions continue to spark outrage among the American public.
The Bottom Line: The Walls Are Closing In
Brennan and Clapper’s latest media blitz reads more like a desperate attempt to save face than a credible defense. As Trump’s DOJ presses forward, Americans are watching closely — and many believe justice is finally catching up with the people who tried to overthrow a sitting president from behind closed doors.
Stay tuned. This story is far from over.
