Is Newsom out of his mind?
Los Angeles is burning—but Governor Gavin Newsom says it’s just like a sports celebration.
As violent riots erupt across Southern California, Newsom’s office dismissed the unrest, comparing it to the wild fanfare seen in Philadelphia after an Eagles playoff win.
“LA riots? Have these geniuses ever seen what happens when the Eagles win a playoff game?” said Newsom’s communications director Izzy Gardon to Fox News Digital.
But what’s happening in L.A. isn’t a party. It’s organized, targeted chaos—and federal law enforcement officers are under attack.
Federal Officers Attacked, Cities in Crisis
Border Patrol agents are being assaulted by violent mobs. One shocking image shared by Chief Michael W. Banks shows a bloodied hand after a rock was hurled through an agent’s windshield.
These are not celebrations. These are full-blown anti-law enforcement riots.
And California’s Democrat leaders? They’re blaming Trump instead of protecting citizens.
Republicans Slam Newsom and Bass for Failure to Lead
Republican Congressman Darrell Issa didn’t mince words.
“Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass have a real habit of letting Los Angeles burn.”
Issa also noted that Bass seems more focused on shielding illegal immigrants than defending her own city.
Actor and California resident James Woods went even further:
“Gavin Newsom is unqualified for a plethora of reasons… He is an all-purpose, all-around loser.”
The message is clear: Democrat leadership is failing, and everyday Californians are paying the price.
Feds: Sanctuary Policies Fueling the Violence
Federal officials say the blame lies squarely on liberal policies that have turned California into a sanctuary for lawbreakers.
Tricia McLaughlin, DHS Assistant Secretary, condemned the attacks on ICE agents:
“The violent targeting of law enforcement in Los Angeles by lawless rioters is despicable.”
Harmeet Dhillon, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, also spoke out:
“California continues to ignore federal immigration laws and puts the interests of illegal immigrants—even dangerous offenders—above the safety of its own citizens.”
The consequences of these sanctuary policies are no longer theoretical. They’re dangerous. And they’re here.
Newsom Doubles Down on Defending Illegal Immigrants
Instead of calling for calm, Newsom took aim at Trump’s immigration enforcement. He called the deportation sweeps “chaotic” and “cruel.”
His office even clapped back at White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on social media:
“Your broad enforcement tactics are spreading fear throughout entire communities. This harsh approach is unnecessary and needs to stop.”
Meanwhile, California residents are left to deal with the consequences.
President Trump Responds: National Guard Deployed
On Saturday, President Donald Trump took decisive action. He signed a presidential memorandum deploying 2,000 National Guardsmen to help restore order in Paramount, California.
“If Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass are unable to handle the situation—as most people already believe—then the federal government will take action and deal with the riots and looting properly,” President Trump stated on Truth Social.
Bottom Line: Law and Order vs. Lawlessness
As California descends into lawlessness, Governor Newsom and other Democrat leaders are siding with illegal immigrants over law enforcement—and over law-abiding citizens.
Thankfully, President Trump is stepping up to protect the country where others have failed.
