There are a lot of conversations going on behind the scenes.
Global power players are working behind the scenes to undermine President Donald Trump’s upcoming peace summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin — a historic meeting aimed at ending the devastating Ukraine war.
The face-to-face talks, scheduled for August 15 in Alaska, were announced by President Trump on Truth Social Friday. While the official agenda has not been fully disclosed, insiders say the summit could shape the future of Europe and determine whether peace can be achieved after more than four years of relentless bloodshed in Ukraine.
Kirill Dmitriev, a senior member of Putin’s inner circle and often described as the Kremlin’s “shadow foreign minister”, warned that “titanic efforts” are underway by multiple nations to sabotage the talks. Posting on Telegram, Dmitriev said certain countries — particularly those profiting politically or financially from the war — are determined to keep the conflict going at all costs.
Although he didn’t specifically name these nations, many suspect elements within NATO are preparing diplomatic roadblocks and media-driven smear campaigns to derail any peace deal that could be seen as a Trump victory on the world stage.
Dmitriev, who met with Trump administration officials in Washington earlier this year, heads Russia’s sovereign wealth fund and serves as a special envoy between Moscow and Washington. His behind-the-scenes diplomacy has positioned him as a key figure in these high-stakes negotiations.
The Kremlin confirmed Saturday that the Trump-Putin summit will focus on “options for achieving a long-term peaceful resolution to the Ukrainian crisis.” The statement admitted the process will be “challenging,” but pledged to pursue it “actively and energetically.”
President Trump has hinted that a ceasefire deal was previously close under his watch — but achieving peace could require Ukraine to make significant territorial concessions, something Kyiv and certain European leaders fiercely oppose.
With global tensions running high, the Alaska summit is shaping up to be one of the most important diplomatic meetings in decades — and Trump’s political opponents know it.
