Can Kamala be trusted? Obviously not.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is drawing attention after making a startling claim about President Donald Trump — one that surfaced while she was actively promoting her own book on late-night television.

During a Wednesday appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Harris claimed she overheard President Trump “selling his book” during a phone call she says took place after an assassination attempt against him at his Florida golf course last year.

The remark came as host Jimmy Kimmel mocked Trump’s business ventures and joked about him selling products on television. Kimmel then asked Harris whether she would have done anything similar had she won the presidency.

Harris did not answer the question directly. Instead, she smiled and pivoted to her recently released memoir, 107 Days, which recounts her short-lived and ultimately unsuccessful 2024 presidential campaign.

“But you know what I do talk about?” Harris said, clearly referencing her book before launching into the story she appeared eager to share.

Harris Describes Phone Call After Assassination Attempt

According to Harris, she personally called Trump following the reported assassination attempt to check on his condition. She described the moment as serious and emotional, but claimed she was surprised by what she heard during the call.

“I was told one minute, ‘We’re going to go and get him,’” Harris said, implying heightened concern over Trump’s safety. “And I could hear him in the background selling his book to somebody.”

Harris alleged that Trump was actively promoting his book during the call — something she portrayed as inappropriate given the gravity of the situation involving an attempted attack on a former president.

She emphasized what she described as a sharp contrast between the seriousness of the moment and Trump’s alleged behavior.

“The significance of an attempt to assassinate a former president of the United States — a candidate and nominee at that point — and what was happening in the background was unbelievable,” Harris said. She then added, “But at this point, not surprising.”

Book Tour Raises Eyebrows

The comments come as Harris has been conducting an aggressive media tour following the September release of 107 Days. The memoir focuses heavily on her 2024 campaign and her interactions with political rivals, including Trump.

In the book, Harris revisits the same phone call and claims Trump privately praised her performance on the campaign trail.

“You’ve done a great job, you really have,” Harris writes that Trump told her. “My only problem is it makes it very hard for me to be angry at you.”

Harris also claims Trump said he would “tone it down” during the campaign and mentioned that his daughter, Ivanka Trump, was a “big fan.”

Despite describing the exchange as polite and cordial, Harris made clear she remains deeply skeptical of Trump’s intentions.

“He’s a con man,” Harris wrote in the memoir, dismissing what she characterized as political charm.

Timing Sparks Skepticism

Critics were quick to point out that Harris’s comments surfaced while she was actively promoting her own book — on a late-night comedy show known for its anti-Trump tone.

The timing has raised questions about motive, credibility, and whether the story was shared to sell books rather than to inform the public.

While Harris framed the moment as shocking, supporters of President Trump argue that the former vice president’s account conveniently emerged during a promotional media blitz — and that viewers should consider the source.

As with many claims made on the late-night circuit, the story has fueled online debate, with Americans once again left to decide what to believe — and who benefits most from the narrative.
