Conservatives need to remain calm and trust in Trump and the GOP.
At a packed town hall in north-central Iowa, Republican Senator Joni Ernst faced heated reactions as she stood firm in defense of President Trump’s pro-taxpayer, pro-border, and pro-senior reforms — including critical updates to Medicaid eligibility.
As part of a $700 billion spending overhaul passed by the House and dubbed “The Big, Beautiful Bill” by President Trump, Republicans aim to restore fiscal sanity while protecting America’s most vulnerable. The Senate is now reviewing the measure, and Sen. Ernst made it clear: the reforms are necessary to preserve Medicaid for those who truly need it — not for those gaming the system.
During the event, Ernst calmly responded to a heckler who shouted that people would “die without coverage.” Her reply: “Well, we all are going to die,” drew groans — but reflected the hard truth many in Washington avoid.
“For heaven’s sake,” Ernst added, “what matters is making sure the people who qualify for Medicaid get the care they need. We’re not kicking them off — we’re making sure the system works for them, not for illegal immigrants or people who already get insurance through work.”
The legislation includes commonsense reforms:
✔️ Work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents
✔️ Stronger eligibility verification to stop fraud
✔️ No taxpayer-funded coverage for illegal immigrants
President Trump and House Republicans passed the bill by just one vote — a testament to the urgency of restoring accountability and efficiency to massive government programs.
Of course, Democrats and their allies in the media pounced. A short video clip of Ernst’s “we all are going to die” remark was instantly shared by liberal operatives trying to stir outrage and distract from the real issue: the need to stop waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicaid.
Ken Martin, a DNC operative, falsely claimed Republicans don’t care if Americans live or die — a typical scare tactic from the left that ignores facts and logic.
But the truth is simple:
👉 Republicans want to protect the truly vulnerable
👉 Democrats want to keep the door open to abuse and unlimited spending
Senator Ernst, who is up for reelection in 2026, is showing she’s not afraid to speak the truth — even when the left tries to shout her down.
