Democrats are at it again.

This time threatening to sue President Donald Trump’s administration over his effort to protect taxpayers during the ongoing government shutdown.

Lawmakers from Maryland and Virginia claim they’ll take the White House to court after the administration moved to cut waste and hold federal employees accountable. It’s the latest example of Democrats weaponizing the system to attack Trump instead of doing their jobs and reopening the government.

Democrats Furious Over Federal Layoffs

The uproar began after the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) announced potential layoffs, known as “reductions in force,” during the shutdown.

OMB Director Russ Vought confirmed the move on X, posting: “The RIFs have begun.”

That single post sent Senate Democrats into a frenzy.
Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) called the decision “a big fat lie” and claimed it was “illegal.” He vowed to drag Trump officials into court—proving once again that when Democrats can’t win politically, they run to the judges.

Leftists Outraged Over Back Pay

Democrats also erupted over warnings that furloughed workers might not automatically receive back pay.

The Congressional Budget Office estimated that paying 750,000 nonessential federal employees could cost nearly $400 million a day—money taxpayers would have to shoulder.

But here’s what Democrats won’t admit:
President Trump already signed a law back in 2019 requiring back pay for federal workers in any future shutdowns. The administration is simply enforcing the law—and exposing Democrat hypocrisy in the process.

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) accused Trump of having a “short memory,” while ignoring his own party’s role in blocking every attempt to reopen the government.

Biden Allies Rush To Sue

Rob Shriver, a former Biden administration official now working at a liberal group called Democracy Forward, bragged that his team immediately filed a lawsuit the moment Vought made his announcement.

“The moment Russ Vought posted on Friday, we immediately prepared to head back to court,” Shriver remarked.

To conservatives, it’s the same playbook we’ve seen for years: the left using taxpayer-funded lawyers to fight any Trump policy that restores accountability or fiscal discipline.

Shutdown Drags On As Democrats Refuse To Compromise

While lawsuits fly and rhetoric heats up, everyday Americans are left paying the price for political games.

The Senate is preparing yet another vote on the House Republican plan to temporarily fund the government—a bill Democrats have blocked seven times.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) continues demanding expanded Obamacare subsidies before reopening the government, while Republicans insist negotiations should happen after the government resumes normal operations.

In short: Democrats would rather hurt federal workers and taxpayers than give President Trump a political win.

The Real Story

Sen. Van Hollen delivered one final jab, saying: “Donald Trump and Russ Vought—stop attacking federal employees.”

But the truth is, it’s Democrats attacking the American people—with endless lawsuits, shutdown obstruction, and reckless spending demands.

President Trump is fighting to protect taxpayer dollars and restore common sense in Washington—something career politicians in both parties have failed to do for decades.

And for millions of Americans, that’s exactly why they stand with Trump.
