Illinois Democrat Gov. JB Pritzker is facing backlash after making a shocking claim about President Trump’s plan to send National Guard troops into Chicago and other Democrat-run cities drowning in violent crime.
On CBS’s Face the Nation Sunday, Pritzker suggested — without evidence — that Trump’s true goal was to “stop the elections in 2026” or “take control of them.”
White House Calls Out “Baseless Conspiracy”
The White House quickly fired back.
“It’s amazing the lengths this slob will go to in order to deflect from the terrible crime crisis plaguing Chicago,” said spokeswoman Abigail Jackson.
Jackson blasted Pritzker for ignoring reality:
- Chicago has led the nation in murders for 13 straight years.
- More illegal guns are recovered in Chicago than in New York and Los Angeles combined.
- Over Labor Day weekend alone, 35 people were shot and five killed.

The president’s warning followed back-to-back bloody weekends in Chicago that left 10 people dead and dozens more wounded.
Pritzker Threatens to Sue Trump
Instead of welcoming help, Pritzker vowed to sue the Trump administration if National Guard troops are deployed.
He claimed sending troops would be an “invasion” and promised to drag the president to court.
DHS Secretary: “This Is About His Ego”
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem blasted Pritzker’s defiance.
“This seems like it’s more about Pritzker’s ego than protecting his people,” Noem said.
“If he has even one murder in Chicago, he should be calling President Trump and asking, ‘What’s your ideas? What can we do?’”
Trump’s Results Speak for Themselves
President Trump has already proven he can restore order when Democrats won’t:
- In Washington, DC, after Trump declared a crime emergency and sent in the Guard, violent crime dropped 45% and carjackings fell 87%.
- In Los Angeles, Trump deployed 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to stop violent anti-ICE riots. Within weeks, order was restored.
