Fox News contributor Lisa Boothe raised questions Wednesday about President Donald Trump’s public comments on the escalating conflict with Iran, saying she believed the president appeared frustrated as military tensions continued to grow.
Trump spoke with reporters several times while attending the NATO summit in Turkey, where the conflict in the Middle East dominated international discussions. Earlier in the day, the president announced that a previous memorandum of understanding with Iran was effectively over after Iranian forces allegedly targeted ships traveling through the Strait of Hormuz. The United States later launched additional military strikes in response.
During an appearance on Outnumbered, Boothe shared her perspective on Trump’s remarks, suggesting that the ongoing crisis has placed enormous pressure on the president.
She noted that Trump mentioned concerns about Iran potentially targeting him personally on more than one occasion, calling the situation significant given the rising tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Boothe also argued that Trump appeared weighed down by multiple international crises, including the wars involving Iran and Ukraine. While the president has spoken about “finishing the job” in Iran, she questioned what that objective would ultimately involve.
According to Boothe, the United States and Israel have already employed many of the traditional military, intelligence, and economic strategies designed to weaken Iran’s leadership. Those efforts have included strikes against senior military figures, financial sanctions, and actions intended to limit the regime’s operational capabilities.
Despite those measures, Boothe said Iran’s government has remained in power.
She also questioned how the conflict could end, particularly as disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to threaten one of the world’s most important shipping routes. Any prolonged instability in the region could have significant consequences for global energy markets and international commerce.
Boothe said she remains uncertain about what a successful conclusion would look like or what an eventual exit strategy might involve. She warned that without clearly defined objectives, the conflict could become increasingly difficult to resolve.
Her comments stand out because they came from a contributor on Fox News, a network widely watched by conservatives and many supporters of President Trump. While Boothe has frequently defended Trump’s policies in the past, her remarks reflected growing concern over the uncertainty surrounding the military campaign and America’s long-term strategy.
The Trump administration has maintained that its actions are focused on protecting U.S. interests, supporting allies, and responding to Iranian aggression. Administration officials have also emphasized the importance of keeping international shipping lanes open while working to deter further attacks.
