The truth is coming out.
A former Democratic insider is making explosive claims about what top party officials allegedly knew about President Joe Biden long before he exited the 2024 race.
Lindy Li, a former Democratic fundraiser who later left the party, says concerns about Biden’s mental sharpness were far more widespread behind closed doors than voters were ever told.
Now, with a new book set to be released later this year, Li says she plans to reveal which Democratic leaders privately questioned Biden’s fitness while publicly defending him.
According to Li, many Americans never received the full picture.
“People knew there were serious concerns,” Li said during a recent interview. “My book will identify who was aware of the problems and why they continued to tell the public everything was fine.”
Her upcoming book, Unburdened, promises a behind-the-scenes look at Democratic Party discussions during one of the most turbulent periods in modern political history.
What Democrats Were Saying In Private
Li claims support for Biden was much weaker inside Democratic circles than many voters realized.
She says several prominent Democrats privately worried about Biden’s ability to continue serving but were unwilling to challenge him publicly.
One of the names she mentioned was Senator Adam Schiff.
According to Li, Schiff expressed concerns privately before eventually making his position public following Biden’s disastrous debate performance in 2024.
A spokesperson for Schiff pushed back on the suggestion that this was hidden, noting that the senator publicly called on Biden to withdraw after the debate.
Still, Li insists Schiff was hardly alone.
She claims many Democratic officials feared speaking out because of the political consequences.
“They didn’t want to be isolated by the party,” Li explained.
For ambitious Democrats hoping to advance their careers, criticizing a sitting president carried enormous risks.
Internal Polling Created Fear
According to Li, another factor kept potential challengers quiet.
She says internal polling consistently showed Biden would be extremely difficult to defeat in a Democratic primary.
As a result, many politicians reportedly concluded that challenging him would end their careers while accomplishing nothing.
Li says she has polling data that has never been publicly released and plans to include it in her book.
If true, those findings could provide new insight into why so few Democratic leaders openly questioned Biden despite growing concerns among voters.
Kamala Harris Wasn’t The Preferred Backup?
Li also claims Democratic insiders were not fully convinced Vice President Kamala Harris was the strongest alternative.
According to her account, internal polling compared Harris against several other rising Democratic figures, including Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom, Josh Shapiro, and Gretchen Whitmer.
Li says Harris consistently struggled in those comparisons.
While Democratic leaders ultimately rallied behind Harris after Biden stepped aside, Li argues that many insiders privately viewed other candidates as stronger options.
Why Nobody Wanted To Challenge Biden
Perhaps the most revealing part of Li’s account involves Biden’s personal relationships.
After spending decades in Washington, Biden built deep loyalty throughout the Democratic Party.
Li says many longtime allies genuinely admired him and were reluctant to publicly criticize someone they considered a friend.
“He inspired tremendous loyalty,” she explained.
That loyalty, combined with political calculations and fears of retaliation, created an environment where many concerns remained private.
New Questions Continue To Surface
Li’s allegations add to a growing national debate about what Democratic leaders knew regarding Biden’s condition during the final years of his presidency.
As more insiders begin sharing their stories, many Americans are asking the same question:
If concerns were being discussed behind closed doors, why weren’t voters told sooner?
The release of Li’s book is likely to reignite that debate and put fresh scrutiny on the decisions made by Democratic leaders during the 2024 election cycle.
