Congressman Joins Anti-Trump Protest
Hundreds of immigration activists gathered outside Levi’s Stadium in California on Sunday afternoon to protest U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), using Super Bowl Sunday to draw national attention to their opposition to federal immigration enforcement.
Roughly 300 demonstrators marched around the stadium as the game was underway, holding signs demanding that ICE be removed and criticizing the immigration policies of President Donald Trump. The protest unfolded just outside one of the largest sporting events of the year, as millions of Americans watched from home.
Democratic Representative Ro Khanna joined the protest and publicly highlighted his participation on social media, emphasizing that he chose to march with activists rather than attend Super Bowl events.
“The Super Bowl is in my district, but I was not in the suites,” Khanna wrote. “I was with activists in my district demanding no new funding for ICE.”
Local television reports indicated that the demonstration remained peaceful throughout the afternoon. No counter-protesters were observed, and law enforcement officials reported no arrests or disturbances related to the event.
The protest followed widespread online speculation that ICE agents might be present at the Super Bowl, particularly after pop star Bad Bunny was announced as the halftime show performer. The rumors intensified after comments from Trump administration officials suggested federal agencies would maintain a visible presence at major public gatherings.
Despite those claims, officials with the National Football League stated ahead of the game that no ICE operations were scheduled in connection with the Super Bowl. As of Sunday evening, there were no confirmed reports of ICE enforcement activity anywhere near the stadium.
The demonstration underscored the ongoing political divide over immigration enforcement, even as millions of Americans gathered to celebrate one of the nation’s most iconic sporting traditions.
