Governor Celebrates Troop Deployment

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry is applauding Donald Trump for deploying the National Guard to New Orleans, saying the decision prioritizes public safety at a time when violent crime remains a serious concern for families and communities.

During an appearance on Newsmax’s “Rob Schmitt Tonight,” Landry said the move reflects a shared focus on protecting lives, restoring order, and supporting local law enforcement—especially during the holiday season, when crime traditionally increases in many urban areas.

According to the governor, keeping neighborhoods safe should never be treated as a partisan issue. He stressed that ensuring residents can feel secure in their homes is a responsibility that rises above politics and ideological divisions.

Earlier this month, President Trump authorized the deployment of hundreds of National Guard troops to New Orleans ahead of Christmas. The Guard members are assisting state and local law enforcement with patrol operations, logistical support, and crime-prevention efforts aimed at stabilizing high-risk areas.

Landry said the added federal presence has been welcomed in Louisiana, noting that strong cooperation between state leaders and the White House sends a clear message that public safety comes first. He emphasized that secure streets, safe homes, and protected communities are foundational to economic stability and quality of life.

The governor also highlighted that combating crime has been a central focus of his administration since taking office. He has pushed for tougher enforcement policies, strengthened criminal justice reforms, and expanded support for crime victims—steps he says are essential to rebuilding trust and accountability.

Landry rejected criticism from political opponents who questioned the National Guard deployment, arguing that protecting families should never be politicized. He said most Americans, regardless of party affiliation, simply want to live in safe communities where the rule of law is respected.

Calling the deployment a welcome show of leadership, Landry said the federal support delivered much-needed reassurance to Louisiana residents during the holidays—underscoring the importance of decisive action when public safety is on the line.
