Trump Brings Another American Home

In a major diplomatic victory for the United States, Saudi Arabia has agreed to release Saad Almadi, a 75-year-old American citizen who was imprisoned for social media posts critical of the Saudi royal family. His family says the breakthrough came directly because of President Donald Trump’s intervention and a high-level meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

American Held for Years After Posting Critical Tweets

Almadi, who legally immigrated to the U.S. in 1976 and built his life here, was arrested during a family visit to Saudi Arabia in 2021. Authorities targeted him over several online posts, including one referencing the 2018 killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Saudi officials initially sentenced Almadi to more than 19 years on terrorism-related charges — a punishment his family and human-rights groups strongly condemned. Although he was released in 2023, he was trapped under an “exit ban,” unable to return home to the United States.

Family Praises President Trump for Getting Results

In a statement filled with relief and gratitude, the Almadi family credited President Trump, his administration, and key national security officials for securing Saad’s freedom.

“This day would not have been possible without President Donald Trump and the tireless efforts of his administration,” the family said.

They also thanked Dr. Sebastian Gorka, the National Security Council, the State Department, and House Speaker Mike Johnson, along with several humanitarian organizations that helped push for Almadi’s release.

Historic U.S.–Saudi Meeting Delivers Immediate Results

This development follows Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s first visit to the United States since 2018. The Trump–MBS meeting marks a significant moment in U.S.–Saudi relations and highlights the administration’s commitment to protecting American citizens abroad.

For many Americans concerned about foreign governments detaining U.S. citizens, this successful negotiation stands as a strong reminder of what focused American leadership can accomplish.

Family Calls for Help for Other Americans Still Detained Overseas

While celebrating the long-awaited news, the Almadi family urged continued support for others still trapped overseas.

“We hope the support and care we received will continue for those still held hostage in Saudi Arabia and in other parts of the world,” they wrote.
