Ted Cruz Breaks Silence On Election Disaster
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is sounding off after what he called a “political disaster” for Republicans in Tuesday’s elections across New York, New Jersey, and Virginia — warning that the results are “terrible for America.”
“Last night was a disaster. It was an electoral blowout,” Cruz told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “The results in New Jersey were disastrous, and the results in Virginia were terrible.”
Cruz Blames the Radical Left’s Grip on America’s Cities
Cruz pointed to the New York City mayoral election, where far-left Democrat Zohran Mamdani — a self-described “democratic socialist” — defeated former Governor Andrew Cuomo by nearly nine percentage points.
President Donald Trump had endorsed Cuomo in an effort to restore law, order, and common sense to the nation’s largest city.
“Comrade Mamdani is the face of the Democrat Party,” Cruz warned. “He’s a full-on socialist, and that’s dangerous for America. New York is the largest city in the country — the financial and media capital of the world. What happens there affects every single American.”
Although Mamdani denies being a communist, his radical agenda — including defunding police, rent cancellation, and massive new taxes — has been celebrated by the far-left and criticized by working-class Americans.
Republican Leaders React: Mixed Messages from the GOP
Some Republican lawmakers tried to downplay the losses.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) said the results were disappointing but not unexpected.
“Obviously, we lost statewide elections in a few places, but most people didn’t expect us to win there anyway,” Thune told reporters. “In the end, these results were pretty much expected.”
But conservatives say the party must wake up. Across the country, Democrats continue to tighten their control over major cities while pushing policies that threaten small businesses, raise taxes, and weaken law enforcement.
President Trump Responds: ‘TRUMP WASN’T ON THE BALLOT’
President Donald Trump also reacted to the results, posting a blunt message on Truth Social late Tuesday night.
“‘TRUMP WASN’T ON THE BALLOT, AND SHUTDOWN, WERE THE TWO REASONS THAT REPUBLICANS LOST ELECTIONS TONIGHT,’” he wrote.
The president’s post referred to the ongoing Democrat-driven government shutdown that has dominated Washington headlines for weeks — and to his absence from the ballot in states like New Jersey and Virginia.
A Wake-Up Call for Conservatives Nationwide
For millions of conservative Americans, this election serves as a wake-up call.
When radical leftists take over major cities, crime rises, businesses flee, and families suffer.
As Cruz put it, “What happens in New York doesn’t stay in New York — it spreads across the country.”
The message from voters is clear: the fight to save America’s cities and restore common sense is far from over.
