Here’s what Americans need to know.
Washington, D.C. — The White House is firing back after reports claimed President Donald Trump plans to name the new White House ballroom after himself. Officials say no name decision has been made — and that the final word will come straight from the president, not from “anonymous sources.”
“Any announcement regarding the ballroom’s name will come directly from President Trump himself,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle told Fox News Digital. “Not from rumors or unnamed insiders.”
The pushback came after ABC News reported Friday that staffers were already calling the new event space “The President Donald J. Trump Ballroom.” When asked about the claim, Trump smiled and said, “I won’t get into that now.”
A Promise 150 Years in the Making
Earlier this week, President Trump officially announced construction on the long-awaited White House ballroom, calling it a “modernization of the People’s House.”
“For over a century and a half, presidents have hoped to one day see a magnificent ballroom added to the White House for official gatherings and grand occasions,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I’m proud to finally bring that vision to life — completely funded by private contributions, with no cost to the American taxpayer.”
The president said the project is privately funded by “many generous patriots, great American companies, and yours truly.”
“This new ballroom will serve the nation for generations,” Trump said, calling it a tribute to “America’s enduring pride, unity, and heritage.”
Democrats Lash Out as Patriots Cheer
Predictably, the announcement set off a wave of outrage from Democrats who accused Trump of “destroying” the White House.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) mocked the president on X (formerly Twitter):
“Oh, you’re struggling with the cost of living? Donald Trump’s too busy listening to the bulldozers tearing down part of the White House,” she wrote.
Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton posted:
“It’s not about marble or plaster — it’s about Trump taking a wrecking ball to our heritage.”
Sen. Andy Kim (D-NJ) blasted the project, saying, “America doesn’t need a billionaire’s ballroom to show its patriotism.”
But Trump supporters quickly defended the project, noting that no taxpayer funds are being used and that presidents for decades have wanted a grand entertainment space in the White House.
White House Press Secretary Sets the Record Straight
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt hit back on Fox News’ Jesse Watters Primetime, reminding viewers that presidents from both parties have long requested a larger event hall.
“Nearly every president who lived here has made upgrades to the White House,” Leavitt said. “Even President Obama complained he had to rent a tent for state dinners because the East Room was too small. President Trump is fixing that — and not spending a dime of your money to do it.”
A Symbol of American Legacy
Supporters say the new ballroom will become a historic centerpiece — a place to host grand state events, patriotic celebrations, and international gatherings that showcase America’s greatness.
“President Trump is restoring pride to the People’s House,” one supporter wrote online. “He’s doing what other presidents only talked about — and paying for it himself.”
Whether the ballroom eventually bears Trump’s name or not, the new addition to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is already making history. Once completed, it will stand as a lasting symbol of patriotism, leadership, and American tradition.

Since patriotic Americans are funding this with their on money, I think it should be called
The American Patriots Ballroom.
