The federal government has been shut down for a week — and the political blame game is heating up.
Democrats are refusing to pass a funding bill unless it includes an extension of ObamaCare’s costly subsidies, which are set to expire at the end of 2025.
But conservatives say the real story isn’t a shutdown — it’s how Barack Obama’s failed healthcare law continues to drain taxpayers and drive up costs nearly a decade later.
Biden Supercharged Obama’s Disaster
When President Obama pushed through the so-called “Affordable Care Act,” Americans were promised lower costs and better coverage. Instead, premiums skyrocketed, small businesses struggled, and taxpayers were left holding the bill.
Then came Joe Biden, who made the problem even worse. His American Rescue Plan during the COVID pandemic poured billions more into ObamaCare — lifting income caps and handing out massive subsidies to insurance companies.
Under Biden’s plan, even upper-middle-class households qualified for taxpayer-funded coverage. The result?
“They shifted the premium burden from enrollees to taxpayers and expanded subsidies far beyond what the law originally allowed,” explained Brian Blase, president of the Paragon Health Institute. “It poured fuel on an already inflationary system.”
Subsidies That Inflate Costs — Not Reduce Them
Democrats call these subsidies “help.” But experts warn they’re really a shell game that hides the true cost of healthcare while pushing America deeper into debt.
“Patients are still paying high prices because ObamaCare’s mandates inflated the system,” said Brittany Madni, Executive VP at the Economic Policy Innovation Center (EPIC). “The supersized COVID subsidies didn’t reduce costs — they just padded insurance company revenues.”
Even after President Trump repealed the federal penalty for being uninsured, blue states reinstated their own versions. Meanwhile, premiums keep climbing — and insurance companies know Washington will keep bailing them out.
“When premiums go up, the taxpayer pays,” Blase added. “That gives insurers zero reason to lower prices or negotiate better deals for patients.”
The Taxpayer Gets the Bill — Again
Republican lawmakers are sounding the alarm as Democrats double down on Obama’s broken system.
House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith (R-MO) blasted the left’s refusal to fix the mess:
“Premiums for ObamaCare plans have jumped 80% since they began. Americans are paying more and getting less — higher deductibles, denied claims, and fewer doctor options — while big insurance companies rake in billions from Washington Democrats’ subsidies.”
Conservative economists argue this approach punishes seniors, savers, and middle-class taxpayers — the very people already hit hardest by Bidenflation.
Democrats Blame Trump — Conservatives Call Foul
Despite overwhelming evidence that ObamaCare has inflated costs and destabilized the market, Democrats are pointing fingers at President Trump.
Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA) even claimed, “The biggest driver of inflation and unaffordability is Trump himself.”
That line raised eyebrows across conservative circles. For many, it was just another attempt to shift blame from Obama’s failed policies and Biden’s reckless spending.
Republicans counter that Trump’s reforms — repealing the individual mandate, expanding health savings accounts, and promoting price transparency — actually helped reduce premiums before Biden reversed them.
The Real Legacy of ObamaCare
Fifteen years later, Obama’s signature law remains one of the most divisive policies in modern history.
It promised affordable care, but delivered government dependency, ballooning premiums, and out-of-control federal spending.
Now, Biden’s Democrats want to make those temporary subsidies permanent — a move critics say will lock America into an endless cycle of rising costs, higher taxes, and deeper debt.
As Blase put it:
“You can’t get rid of the cost. You can only shift it. And under ObamaCare, that shift goes straight to the taxpayer.”
For millions of Americans — especially seniors on fixed incomes — that’s the real bad news.
💬 Final Word
ObamaCare’s legacy is not affordability — it’s dependency.
And unless Washington changes course, President Trump’s next administration could inherit the full cost of Obama and Biden’s broken promises.
The obunglers legacy is as FAKE as his heterosexual claims and his citizenship.
His long wind speeches about nothing led to nothing except a woke nobel peace prize and a millions dollar burden to the idiots in Chicago who are footing the bill for his presidential library.( That’s still not finished).
