Bessent Breaks Silence On Job Loss

Washington, D.C. – President Donald Trump’s bold trade policies are under heavy fire as critics rush to blame his tariffs for recent dips in U.S. manufacturing jobs. But Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent isn’t backing down, delivering a fiery defense of the president’s strategy to bring American jobs back home and end decades of bad trade deals that left U.S. workers behind.

Since April, manufacturing jobs have slipped by 12,000, with a total loss of 42,000 jobs following Trump’s sweeping tariffs aimed at punishing countries that undercut American workers.

Globalist business groups and political opponents have been quick to attack the plan, claiming it will slow the economy.

But during a tense exchange on NBC’s Meet the Press, Bessent told host Kristen Welker that patriotic progress takes time.

“It’s been just a couple of months,” Bessent said firmly. “We can’t snap our fingers and have brand-new factories built overnight. These investments take time, but the payoff will be enormous.”

Massive American Investments Are Coming

Bessent revealed that U.S. companies are now pouring billions into new factories and equipment thanks to Trump’s landmark “One Big Beautiful Bill”, passed on July 4th. The bill provides full expensing for domestic manufacturing, a move expected to unleash a wave of economic growth.

“Many companies were waiting for this bill to pass before acting,” Bessent explained. “Now, we’re going to see a surge in construction jobs followed by a manufacturing boom that will benefit American families for generations.”

Trump has made it clear that his tariffs are about more than trade—they are about rebuilding American strength, securing U.S. supply chains, and making sure foreign governments no longer hold power over America’s economy.

Bessent Exposes Biden’s Weak Jobs Record

When Welker attempted to compare Trump’s jobs record to former President Joe Biden, Bessent set the record straight.

“We need accurate data,” he said. “The reality is that most of the jobs Biden claimed to have created went to illegal immigrants. Under President Trump, jobs are going to native-born Americans and legal U.S. workers—not to people who broke our laws to get here.”

Welker objected, saying his statement would be debated, but Bessent didn’t waver:
“That’s the truth. Those are the facts.”

Trump’s Vision: Secure Jobs and a Strong America

Critics are fixated on short-term numbers, but Trump argues the tariffs will rebuild America’s industrial base, ensuring more goods are Made in the USA while reducing dependency on hostile foreign nations like China.

“We’re done letting other countries take advantage of American workers,” Trump has repeatedly said. “This is about restoring our strength and making America independent and prosperous again.”

The president’s plan is clear: protect American workers, grow the economy, and secure the nation’s future by putting America First in every trade deal.

Bottom Line

While manufacturing jobs are currently down by 42,000 since April, Bessent emphasized that this is the necessary growing pain of real economic transformation.
As new factories break ground and production ramps up, Trump’s tariffs are expected to deliver high-paying jobs and revitalize towns across America.

This is a pivotal moment for the nation: Will America continue to stand strong under Trump’s leadership—or give in to the same globalist policies that hollowed out its workforce for decades?

Why This Matters

  • Trump’s tariffs are designed to punish foreign countries that cheat the U.S.
  • Massive factory investments are now underway.
  • Biden’s jobs record is built on deception and illegal immigration.
  • Trump’s America First agenda puts U.S. workers first—always.
