President Donald Trump has secured a massive legal victory against New York Attorney General Letitia James, after an appeals court struck down the outrageous $500 million civil fraud penalty that had been weaponized against him.

Trump Celebrates “TOTAL VICTORY”

In a fiery Truth Social post, Trump declared:

“A COMPLETE WIN in the sham case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James! The court finally showed the courage to strike down this corrupt and baseless ruling that was driving businesses out of New York.”

Trump blasted James as “totally corrupt and incompetent” and slammed Judge Arthur Engoron, who had previously imposed the fine, as politically biased and unqualified.

Appeals Court Rules Penalty Was Unconstitutional

The New York Appellate Division’s 5-0 unanimous decision found the half-billion-dollar fine “excessive” and unconstitutional, citing the Eighth Amendment. Even two judges appointed by Democrats sided with Trump, acknowledging the so-called “harm” alleged by James did not justify financial destruction.

This ruling not only saves Trump from paying over $527 million with interest, but also restores confidence in the judicial system for countless Americans who viewed the case as a political witch hunt.

Engoron’s Ruling Exposed as Overreach

In 2022, Letitia James filed her sweeping civil fraud case, accusing Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Eric Trump of inflating property values for business advantages. Judge Engoron sided with her, imposing $355 million in penalties, which grew past half a billion dollars with interest.

But Thursday’s appeals court decision makes clear: James and Engoron went too far. Their attempt to destroy Trump financially has now backfired.

Trump’s Sons Also Targeted

While the ruling spares the Trump family from devastating financial penalties, the appeals court did uphold temporary restrictions barring Trump and his two eldest sons from holding top corporate positions in New York for several years.
