Trump Asking Congress For How Much?

President Donald Trump announced Friday that he will ask Congress for $2 billion to revitalize the nation’s capital, promising to restore pride, safety, and order in Washington, D.C.

Trump: “We’re Going to Beautify This City in 12 Months”

Speaking to reporters, Trump laid out his vision: repaved roads, repaired light poles, and cleaner parks across the District.

“We’re going to raise about $2 billion from Congress, and Congress is happy to do it,” Trump said. “We’re going to wisely spend the money and make this city beautiful again.”

Trump pledged the effort would deliver results within a year: “We’re going to have this place beautified in 12 months.”

Backing From GOP Leadership

The president confirmed he has already spoken with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.), both of whom support the initiative. Trump stressed that the price tag is minor compared to the federal budget but will have “massive impact for American pride.”

Cleaning Up Crime and Chaos

The announcement follows Trump’s recent move to take federal control of the D.C. police force and deploy National Guard troops after repeated failures by city officials to curb crime.

“Washington was becoming a crime-infested rathole,” Trump said. “We’re fixing it. We’ve already made huge progress—and yes, we’re even getting rid of the rats.”

The administration has surged federal law enforcement across the city, restoring order and cracking down on violent crime that has plagued the nation’s capital.

A Sharp Warning to Mayor Bowser

Trump also blasted Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser, accusing her of neglecting the city and misleading the public with “phony” crime statistics.

“Mayor Bowser better get her act together or she won’t be mayor much longer,” Trump declared. “The federal government is running this city the way it’s supposed to be run.”

Restoring Pride in America’s Capital

For Trump and his supporters, the effort is about far more than infrastructure. It’s about restoring dignity, safety, and patriotism in the heart of the nation.

“Washington, D.C. should represent America’s greatness—not weakness,” one Trump ally said. “This plan shows President Trump is serious about making our capital city shine again.”
