Democrat Governor Trolls Trump

President Trump’s bold move to restore law and order in America’s capital sparks a political showdown — and he’s not backing down.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) lashed out at President Donald Trump on Thursday over Trump’s decisive action to crush the crime wave in Washington, D.C. The president recently deployed the National Guard, took command of local police, and sent a clear message: America’s capital will not be a safe haven for criminals.

In an interview with WTOP radio, Moore — a former Army officer — criticized the president’s decision and took a personal swipe, saying he ignores “chicken hawks” who talk tough about using the military but never had the courage to serve themselves.

Moore, who served in Afghanistan, has repeatedly criticized Trump’s use of troops to secure the nation’s capital. Earlier this week on CNN, he claimed the decision lacked “seriousness” and was made by people “who have never worn the uniform themselves.”

Speaking from the Oval Office, President Trump sharply responded, saying some believe Moore could be president one day, but that he “doesn’t have the temperament for the job.” Trump added that while Moore claims the National Guard isn’t trained for police work, Guardsmen are trained in common sense — and they won’t stand by while criminals burn buildings, set off explosives, or swindle innocent people.

Trump’s decisive crackdown in D.C. is being seen as a test case for bringing law and order to other Democrat-run cities plagued by rising violence — including Baltimore. The president has already hinted he’s prepared to expand his tough-on-crime strategy nationwide if local leaders refuse to act.

Earlier this summer, Trump moved to seize control of California’s National Guard to stop violent protests in Los Angeles over immigration enforcement. That unprecedented move is now tied up in court as judges decide whether the president can bypass governors who traditionally command their state guard units.

For many Americans frustrated by skyrocketing crime, weak leadership, and soft-on-crime policies, Trump’s actions are a clear signal that he’s willing to do what it takes to protect communities — no matter the political backlash.
