Callaghan had given Biden a chance to walk back his comments from an earlier August video titled “Hunter Biden Returns” — where he claimed, without evidence, that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein initaited Melania to Donald Trump to meet and hinted at “deep connections” between them.
First Lady Demands Retraction and $1 Billion in Damages
Fox News Digital obtained a letter in which attorney Alejandro Brito, representing First Lady Melania Trump, called on Hunter Biden to promptly withdraw his comments and deliver a public apology. Brito cautioned that if Biden refused, Mrs. Trump would be left with no choice but to take all legal action necessary to seek compensation for the “significant financial and reputational damage” his statements had caused.
Brito described the allegations as “baseless, sensational, and broadly circulated,” pointing out that the video has been shared by numerous media outlets, reporters, and political commentators, reaching audiences in the tens of millions.
Biden Doubles Down Instead of Apologizing
Rather than backing down, Hunter Biden escalated the confrontation, saying he was ready to face Mrs. Trump in a deposition:
“If they want to sit down and clarify the nature of the relationship between Jeffrey Epstein, the president, and the first lady, I’m more than happy to provide them the platform to do it.”
