Democrat Trashes Trump
Washington, D.C. – Democrats are in full outrage after President Donald Trump took unprecedented action to bring the nation’s capital under tighter federal control, seizing command of the Metropolitan Police Department and deploying the National Guard to restore order.
The move comes amid a violent crime wave in D.C., where residents have faced skyrocketing robberies, gang activity, and homeless encampments taking over public spaces. Trump said he is “done watching the city be destroyed” and vowed to protect law-abiding Americans.
Trump stated that the nation’s capital has been overrun by violent gangs, lawless mobs, addicts causing chaos, and sprawling homeless camps — and vowed that his administration will put a stop to it once and for all.
Democrats Cry ‘Authoritarianism’
Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.) accused Trump of “wanting his own domestic police force,” claiming federal agencies like ICE are detaining people “with no evidence.” He warned Americans to be “deeply alarmed” by the president’s crackdown.
Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) blasted the move as a “raw authoritarian power grab” and accused Trump of using D.C. as a “dress rehearsal” for broader law enforcement actions.
White House Hits Back Hard
The White House dismissed the accusations, saying Van Hollen “will always side with criminals over law-abiding Americans.” Press Secretary Abigail Jackson fired back:
“When Chris Van Hollen isn’t traveling abroad to sip margaritas with criminal illegal aliens, he’s complaining about the president’s bold efforts to stop violent crime in our nation’s capital.”
Trump’s Law-and-Order Agenda Moves Forward
The president invoked Section 740 of the District of Columbia’s Home Rule Act, a rarely used provision passed in the 1970s, to take control of D.C.’s police force. Supporters say it’s proof Trump is willing to do whatever it takes to protect public safety, even in the face of fierce partisan attacks.
This latest move is part of Trump’s broader national crackdown on crime — a campaign promise that resonates strongly with voters frustrated by years of unchecked lawlessness in major cities.
