Republican Announces Senate Run

Rep. Barry Moore (R-AL) has officially launched his campaign for the U.S. Senate, aiming to fill the seat that Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) will leave as he pursues the Alabama governorship. Moore’s entrance into the race sets up what could be one of the most high-stakes Republican primaries of 2026.

First to Endorse Trump — And Never Backed Down

In his announcement video, Moore proudly reminded voters that he was the very first elected official in America to endorse Donald J. Trump for president in 2015.

“I didn’t wait to see which way the wind was blowing,” Moore declared. “I stood with President Trump from day one, and I’ve stood with him every single step of the way in Congress.”

This early loyalty to Trump — long before it was safe in Washington — will likely resonate with Alabama’s deeply conservative voters.

Freedom Caucus Fighter, Not a ‘MAGA Pretender’

Moore, a committed member of the House Freedom Caucus, made it clear he is no establishment politician.

“I’m not a RINO, and I’m sure not one of those MAGA pretenders suddenly claiming to be conservative,” Moore said. “I’ve always been a Republican, and I fight for our values every single day in Washington.”

His campaign promises to focus on defending Alabama’s priorities — from protecting the border and restoring election integrity to stopping runaway government spending.

A Primary Battle with National Implications

Moore will face Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall in what’s already shaping up to be a hard-fought race. His move to the Senate race could also pave the way for former Rep. Jerry Carl (R-AL) to make a political return.

Carl, who ran against Moore last year due to redistricting, has teased a “MAJOR announcement” for August 18 — a sign the battle for Alabama’s conservative base may only intensify.

Tuberville’s Move Raises the Stakes

Tuberville — a former Auburn University football coach and staunch conservative voice — joined the Senate in 2021 and has been a key ally to President Trump. His decision to run for governor sets off a political chain reaction that could impact the GOP’s power in both Montgomery and Washington.

Moore’s Closing Message to Voters

“This campaign isn’t about climbing some political ladder or pleasing the establishment,” Moore told supporters. “It’s about fighting for our country, defending Alabama, and protecting the America First values that make this nation great.”

With Alabama’s Senate seat on the line, 2026 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for conservatives — and Moore is betting his record will win over Trump’s loyal base.
