Trump Gets Big Support From Pirro
U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., Jeanine Pirro sent shockwaves through the capital Monday, declaring the days of “young punks” committing violent crimes without consequences are over.
Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with President Donald Trump, Pirro vowed to dismantle the district’s weak, soft-on-crime laws and restore law and order to a city that many say has been spiraling out of control.
“Enough. It changes today,” Pirro said, as Trump announced the deployment of the National Guard to assist local police in reclaiming D.C.’s streets from gangs and violent offenders.
Pirro blasted the lenient laws that allow armed teenagers to roam free. “We have gangs of kids—14, 15, 16 years old—walking around with illegal guns. They attack, they shoot, and they think they’re untouchable,” she said. “Why? Because liberal lawmakers have made it impossible to hold them accountable.”
She pointed to a shocking example: 19-year-old Javarry Peaks, who shot a man in the chest on a Metrobus in March. Despite pleading guilty to aggravated assault while armed, D.C. Superior Court Judge Rainey Brandt suspended his prison sentence entirely under the Youth Rehabilitation Act—replacing four years in prison with probation.
“That’s insanity,” Pirro said. “If we want to make D.C. safe again, violent criminals must face real prison time. No excuses, no probation for attempted murder.”
Trump echoed her call for action, promising his administration will back law enforcement “100 percent” and push for the toughest anti-crime measures in decades.
Pirro closed with a direct message to residents: “Law-abiding citizens are the people who matter. We start taking our streets back today—and we’re not stopping until Washington, D.C., is safe again.”
