Obama is back and he’s targeting Trump.
Former President Barack Obama has launched yet another attack on President Trump and conservative lawmakers—this time targeting Republican efforts to restore fairness in Texas elections.
On Tuesday, Obama took to X (formerly Twitter) to accuse Texas Republicans of attempting a so-called “power grab” by redrawing congressional maps—maps that could add five GOP seats in the 2026 midterm elections.
Obama called the effort “a threat to democracy,” despite years of aggressive gerrymandering by Democrats in their own strongholds.
Obama’s comments were paired with a post from All On The Line, a Democrat-aligned campaign closely tied to the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC)—a group bankrolled and influenced by Obama loyalists. The goal? To stop Republican states like Texas from reclaiming lost ground through legal redistricting.
But Republicans aren’t backing down.
President Trump has voiced full support for the Texas plan, stating that the GOP is “entitled” to the five additional seats based on new census data and population trends. Trump emphasized that fair representation—not Democrat manipulation—is what voters deserve.
Meanwhile, Texas Democrats pulled a political stunt by fleeing the state to block a legislative vote on the redistricting bill. Their escape triggered immediate consequences, including:
- $500-per-day fines
- The threat of arrest, ordered by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott
- Possible bribery charges if corruption is uncovered
The proposed map has already passed through committee on a party-line vote, gaining traction as momentum grows behind GOP-led redistricting across the nation.
Conservatives argue that for years, Democrats have used redistricting to tilt elections in their favor. Now, as Republicans push back, the left is crying foul.
And in deep-blue states, Democrat governors are already scheming to redraw maps in their own favor—a move critics say proves this fight was never about “protecting democracy,” but about protecting Democrat power.
Obama’s public intervention makes it clear: the left is panicked about losing control, and they’re willing to do anything to stop the Trump-led GOP resurgence.
