Here’s what conservatives need to know.
Washington, D.C. — President Trump is doubling down after bombshell intelligence documents from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard reveal what he’s calling a “treasonous conspiracy” inside the Obama administration to undermine the 2016 election.
In response, Trump is now demanding that former officials — including President Barack Obama himself — be investigated and possibly prosecuted for their alleged role in orchestrating the now-discredited Russia hoax.
“They tried to rig the election—and they got caught,” Trump said from the Oval Office last week. “There must be serious consequences.”
However, some Republican lawmakers are tapping the brakes, calling for investigations but not immediate arrests. Their caution has sparked frustration among the conservative base, who say justice delayed is justice denied.
🔥 Gabbard’s Leaks Rock Capitol Hill
Gabbard’s classified document drops expose internal discussions among top intelligence officials, which Trump says prove the Obama White House weaponized the federal government against him.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) called the revelations “earth-shattering,” but said, “There’s a lot of work to do. You follow the evidence where it leads.”
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) warned, “Laws appear to have been broken. We will use every tool in our arsenal to hold people accountable.”
While congressional committees prepare new investigations, many Trump allies say the findings already warrant action. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) said flatly: “If they don’t arrest people, this systemic corruption will just continue.”
💣 Deep State or Political Diversion?
Democrats have launched a full-court media blitz, claiming Gabbard’s disclosures are fake and calling the Trump administration’s response a “distraction.”
“They’re not dumping documents. They’re making up lies,” said Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), who insisted no court would take the charges seriously.
But according to the released intel, U.S. agencies knew Russia did not alter vote tallies — a fact long known but buried behind political narratives.
Gabbard also released a second report — backed by House Republicans — that questions whether Vladimir Putin aimed to help Trump or merely sow chaos. This contradicts earlier Senate findings led by now-Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which alleged Russia wanted Trump to win.
⚖️ Can Trump Actually Arrest Obama?
Despite Trump’s calls for accountability, legal experts say any attempt to indict a former president could face hurdles — ironically due to a Supreme Court ruling that grants Trump himself broad executive immunity.
That immunity ruling came after Trump’s historic reelection in 2024, and ironically may now shield his predecessor as well.
Still, Trump’s message is clear: “They tried to steal the presidency. They must pay the price.”
On Truth Social, Trump shared AI-generated memes of Obama and his former staff in orange jumpsuits, alongside a video depicting the 44th president in handcuffs — imagery that’s now going viral among his supporters.
Obama’s office issued a rare public response, calling the claims “outrageous” and “a desperate distraction.”
🕵️♂️ Special Counsel Demanded
Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and John Cornyn (R-TX) have now called for a special counsel investigation into what they describe as “an unprecedented abuse of power by a sitting U.S. president.”
Even usually cautious Republicans like Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) admit the revelations are “deeply concerning.”
“Let the facts determine what happens,” Norman said. “But this smells like another cover-up.”
⚠️ What Happens Next?
With Washington reeling and pressure mounting from grassroots conservatives, the question remains:
Will justice finally be served—or will the political elite escape accountability once again?
