RNC Doubles Down On Conservative Push
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley is praising President Donald Trump’s bold start to his second term but warns that the real battle to restore America’s future is still unfolding.
In an exclusive interview with Newsmax’s American Agenda, Whatley highlighted Trump’s steady stream of victories since returning to the White House—emphasizing that this administration is laser-focused on results.
“It’s been six months of President Trump delivering for American families, day after day,” Whatley said. “This is what ‘promises made, promises kept’ looks like—not just from the president, but from House and Senate Republicans as well.”
While conservative voters may already be feeling the impact of strong leadership, Whatley stressed that President Trump is staying the course—focused, energized, and undistracted by political grandstanding.
“President Trump doesn’t take victory laps,” Whatley added. “He gets up every day and goes to work for the American people. That’s what leadership looks like.”
Senate Advances Trump’s $9 Billion Spending Cut—House Faces Midnight Deadline
Just hours before Whatley’s comments, the U.S. Senate approved a major rescission package that eliminates $9 billion in wasteful government spending, including funds for foreign aid and taxpayer-backed public broadcasting. The House, which passed an earlier version, must now approve the updated package by midnight Friday to allow President Trump to sign it into law. If not, the administration will be required to spend the funds.
“This is about cutting waste, plain and simple,” Whatley said. “The American people should not be forced to fund global giveaways or liberal media outlets that push anti-American agendas.”
Taxpayer-Funded Liberal Media in the Crosshairs
A key target in the rescission bill is public broadcasting, which many conservatives view as a mouthpiece for the radical left.
“Why are hardworking taxpayers funding biased media outlets that act like PR firms for the Democrat Party?” Whatley asked. “That’s not public service—it’s political propaganda.”
He added that the rescission package reflects the Trump administration’s core vision: rebuilding the American economy, securing the southern border, and restoring America’s strength on the world stage.
“Every dollar in this bill was being wasted on programs that do nothing for working families,” he said. “This is how you take back control from the D.C. swamp.”
Democrats Oppose Every Penny of Savings
Whatley blasted Democrats in both chambers of Congress for opposing the cuts, pointing out their track record of reckless spending and tax increases.
“There’s never been a dollar that Democrats didn’t want to tax and spend,” he said. “They voted against $1.6 trillion in savings from President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill—and now they’re blocking this bill too. It’s the same old liberal playbook: spend now, worry never.”
He concluded with a clear message to conservative voters:
“President Trump and Republicans are fighting to protect your wallet, your values, and your future. The Democrats? They’re fighting to grow government and fund their political machine.”
