ICE isn’t playing with Democrats.

In a dramatic rebuke of far-left sanctuary policies, President Donald Trump’s ICE forcefully rejected demands from Democrat Mayor Karen Bass to stop enforcing immigration law in Los Angeles. The clash underscores a growing national battle over border security and the rule of law in American cities.

Bass Demands ICE “Go Home” – ICE Fires Back

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Mayor Bass—who has repeatedly defended LA’s sanctuary status—slammed federal immigration agents operating in the city.

“We want the ICE raids to end, and we want all the federal agents—or people posing as them—to leave our city,” she stated.

When asked if she saw any room for negotiation with federal authorities, the mayor doubled down:

“The deal that needs to be made is for them to go home.”

ICE officials immediately shot back. Emily Covington, Assistant Director of ICE Public Affairs, released a blistering statement defending their mission:

“ICE has no plans to leave and will keep doing the job Mayor Bass has clearly neglected—keeping Los Angeles residents safe. If she’s looking to avoid federal law enforcement, maybe she can book another diplomatic visit to Ghana.”

Mayor Bass Under Fire for Ghana Trip as LA Burned

The jab referenced Bass’s widely criticized trip to Ghana earlier this year—a political junket taken while massive wildfires ripped through Pacific Palisades and surrounding communities. Despite clear warnings from the National Weather Service, Bass left the country to attend an overseas inauguration.

She later admitted the trip was a mistake, telling NBC Los Angeles,

“Absolutely it is, and I think that I have to demonstrate that every day.”

ICE Raids, Riots, and the National Guard: Trump Acts, Bass Blames

Tensions exploded in June after ICE conducted targeted immigration sweeps across Los Angeles. Left-wing activists responded with protests and riots, blaming federal agents for the unrest. President Trump responded swiftly by deploying the National Guard to restore order—sparking a legal challenge from liberal California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Bass claimed that ICE was the “instigator,” saying:

“ICE entered our city and provoked the community by chasing people through Home Depots, car washes, schools—even emergency rooms and shelters.”

She went further, accusing the Trump administration of using the crisis as an excuse to “federalize” the National Guard and send U.S. Marines into an American city—a claim many conservatives call outrageous and inflammatory.

Trump’s Message: America First, Law and Order Always

President Trump and federal immigration authorities remain firm: U.S. law will be enforced, regardless of local political resistance. While liberal mayors pander to illegal immigrants and activists, the Trump administration is committed to protecting American families, securing the border, and restoring law and order in Democrat-run cities spiraling into chaos.
