Failed Democrat Launches Another Run

Texas is heating up for 2026, and Democrats are licking their chops. Former Congressman Colin Allred (D) — a failed Senate candidate and former NFL player — is back for another shot, hoping to capitalize on Republican infighting and a divided GOP base.

In a campaign video released Tuesday, Allred took aim at longtime Senator John Cornyn and Trump ally Attorney General Ken Paxton, accusing them of “rigging the economy” and calling them “too corrupt” and “too weak” to fight for everyday Texans.

Allred, who lost to Sen. Ted Cruz in 2024 by over 8 points, now sees opportunity in what’s shaping up to be one of the nastiest Republican primaries in the country. Cornyn — a career politician seen by many conservatives as part of the Washington swamp — is facing serious pressure from Paxton, a grassroots favorite who’s remained loyal to President Donald Trump.

And that’s not all. Conservative Congressman Wesley Hunt (R-TX), a combat veteran and rising MAGA star, is reportedly considering a run himself, with sources saying he’s been in contact with Trump’s inner circle about entering the race.

📊 The Polls Tell the Story:

  • Texas Southern University: Paxton leads Allred by 2, Cornyn leads by 4
  • Senate Leadership Fund poll: Cornyn +6, Hunt +4, Paxton trailing Allred by 1

That last result is raising eyebrows. Is the media smear campaign hurting Paxton’s numbers temporarily — or is it just wishful thinking from the left?

Democrats certainly hope so. The Texas Democratic Party and deep-pocketed liberal donors just launched “Blue Texas,” an eight-figure ad blitz aimed at flipping seats across the state — from school boards to the U.S. Senate.

Adding fuel to the fire is former NASA astronaut and retired Air Force Col. Terry Virts, another Democrat jumping into the primary. Virts declared war on “Trump’s chaos” and claimed “our Constitution is under attack” — parroting the usual far-left scare tactics.

🔻 What’s at Stake:
Texas has long been a firewall for conservative values. With the Biden administration weaponizing federal agencies and flooding the country with illegal immigration, the stakes couldn’t be higher. A Democrat Senate win in Texas would be a gift to D.C. elites and a disaster for border security, oil & gas jobs, parental rights, and Second Amendment protections.

🗳️ Bottom Line:
Democrats smell blood in the water. They’re betting big on division within the GOP. But with President Trump leading the national conservative movement and potential MAGA-aligned challengers stepping up, Texas could once again be the firewall that stops Biden’s radical agenda cold.
