Top Trump Official Gets Sued

LOS ANGELES – A coalition of journalists, including the Los Angeles Press Club, is suing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem, alleging that federal officers used excessive force during protests that erupted after ICE immigration raids in downtown Los Angeles.

According to the lawsuit, federal agents are accused of violating the First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendments, citing suppression of free speech, unlawful use of force, and denial of due process.

“Since June 6, at least seven journalists have been assaulted or targeted while reporting,” said Adam Rose, the club’s press rights chair. “This behavior endangers our democracy and silences the free press.”

Trump Steps In to Restore Order as Protests Turn Violent

The unrest began after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out a series of enforcement actions in LA’s garment district targeting illegal immigrants.

Violent protests followed, with demonstrators throwing rocks and setting fires. Despite no formal request from Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom, President Donald Trump swiftly sent 1,700 National Guardsmen and 700 Marines on June 8. When chaos escalated, he ordered 2,000 more troops to stabilize the area.

This bold federal response was praised by conservatives nationwide as a necessary step to uphold law and order.

Lawsuit Accuses DHS of Targeting Journalists

The plaintiffs claim federal agents used rubber bullets and tear gas indiscriminately, injuring multiple credentialed journalists.

One reporter, Sean Beckner-Carmitchel, was allegedly hit in the head with a rubber bullet and tear gas canister. Another, Ryanne Mena, was struck with a pepper ball despite clearly identifying as press.

The lawsuit argues this created a chilling effect, silencing media coverage and violating the rights of reporters on the ground.

“This isn’t just an attack on journalists—it’s an assault on every American’s right to know the truth,” said Jon Schleuss, president of NewsGuild-CWA.

Conservatives Push Back: Media Playing the Victim?

While the lawsuit paints DHS and Trump’s administration as aggressors, many conservatives argue the media is once again twisting the facts.

Protesters were not peaceful. Law enforcement was forced to respond to looting, arson, and violent mobs. The mainstream press, critics say, is now using lawsuits to deflect from the chaos enabled by Democrat policies and weak local leadership.

Federal Court Rejects Restraining Order Against DHS

In an effort to block future DHS activity in Los Angeles, the plaintiffs also filed for a temporary restraining order. A federal judge denied the request, allowing immigration enforcement and federal operations to continue uninterrupted.

As of now, DHS has not issued a public response to the lawsuit.

🚨 Bottom Line for American Patriots

This case isn’t just about press credentials. It’s about restoring order, enforcing immigration laws, and standing by our law enforcement. While the media cries foul, President Trump took bold action to protect Americans — even as liberal politicians like Gavin Newsom sat on their hands.
