Failed Democrat Announces Another Run?
Democrat Who Lost to Ted Cruz Now Eyes John Cornyn’s Seat Amid GOP Infighting
DALLAS, TX — Former Democrat Congressman Colin Allred is back in the spotlight — and he wants another shot at a U.S. Senate seat in Texas. After losing to Republican Senator Ted Cruz in 2024 by over 8 points, Allred says he’s “seriously considering” a 2026 comeback — this time, with a new strategy.
In a weekend interview with NBC 5 Dallas, Allred claimed he would “run differently” if he enters the race again — including being in Texas full time rather than juggling duties in Washington.
“I didn’t have enough time to dig into the campaign the way I wanted to,” Allred said. “If I run again, I’ll be here full time — and do it differently.”
Despite losing handily in 2024, Allred is now positioning himself to challenge Senator John Cornyn, who faces a growing primary threat from conservative Attorney General Ken Paxton. Recent polls show Paxton leading Cornyn ahead of the February GOP primary, energizing grassroots Republican voters and frustrating the D.C. establishment.
But Democrats see an opening. Allred — backed by national Democrat donors — says he’s watching the GOP battle closely. “I see Ken Paxton as historically corrupt,” he said. “And I see John Cornyn as someone who’s lost his independence.”
Democrats Pour Millions Into Texas as 2026 Heats Up
Far-left groups aren’t waiting. The Texas Majority PAC and the Texas Democratic Party have launched an aggressive, eight-figure campaign titled “Blue Texas” — aimed at flipping the Lone Star State by targeting senior voters, suburban swing districts, and Hispanic communities.
Despite decades of conservative dominance in Texas, Democrats believe GOP infighting could give them an opening. But conservative voters have seen this playbook before: Hollywood money, D.C. consultants, and liberal media narratives trying to turn Texas into California.
“I’m proud we had ticket-splitters last time,” Allred said, “but this time, I’d do things differently — and I feel different too.”
Conservative Texans: The Battle for 2026 Starts Now
With President Trump expected to energize the 2026 ticket, and Biden’s approval still underwater in Texas, many see Allred’s campaign as another Democrat power grab. The real question: Will Texas conservatives show up and stop it?
From border security to federal spending, Texas voters face a clear choice in 2026. Allred’s record — aligned with the Biden-Pelosi agenda — is no mystery to those who value freedom, faith, and family values.
