Trump Blames Democrats For LA Riots, Is He Right?

Newsom Trolls Hegseth

California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom reignited tensions with President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth this weekend, mocking their leadership as the Trump administration cracked down on violent anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles.

Newsom took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, taking aim at a post from Hegseth that highlighted President Trump’s praise for the National Guard. Trump had commended the troops for restoring order following two straight days of violence, unrest, and attacks on federal immigration agents.

Newsom responded with sarcasm, saying:

“Smart guys running the operation. The National Guard wasn’t even deployed when Trump posted this.”

The governor also mocked Hegseth’s past appearance on Fox News, referencing a 2015 incident in which Hegseth accidentally injured a man during a live axe-throwing segment.

Trump Takes Action as California Descends into Chaos

Despite Newsom’s online jabs, the situation on the ground has become increasingly dangerous. President Trump took bold and immediate action by authorizing the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops to restore law and order in Los Angeles — a city long plagued by Democrat-led sanctuary policies and lax enforcement.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt released a statement making the administration’s stance crystal clear:

“Violent mobs have attacked federal law enforcement officers conducting standard deportation operations. These missions are vital to stopping the invasion of illegal immigrants and protecting our national security.”

Leavitt called out the state’s leadership directly:

“California’s Democrat officials have utterly failed their constituents. President Trump is stepping in to defend American lives where the state refuses to act.”

National Guard Begins Mobilizing as Federal Government Steps Up

By Sunday morning, California National Guard troops were already on the ground in Los Angeles. U.S. Northern Command confirmed the deployment was underway and continuing throughout the day. Law-abiding citizens in Los Angeles welcomed the added protection, as protests against ICE had escalated into vandalism, arson, and direct assaults on law enforcement.

While conservatives applauded the president’s decisive action, Newsom’s administration doubled down — not on public safety, but on political resistance.

His office posted inflammatory comparisons to the January 6 Capitol protests and questioned the Department of Homeland Security’s labeling of the rioters as “violent” — despite extensive evidence of chaos and destruction.

Newsom Demands Federal Troops Withdraw — Citing “Sovereignty”

In a formal letter sent to Secretary Hegseth, Newsom’s legal team demanded that the National Guard be withdrawn. David Sapp, the governor’s legal affairs secretary, wrote:

“There is currently no need for the National Guard to be deployed in Los Angeles. This order violates state sovereignty and appears designed to escalate tensions.”

The letter requested an “immediate rescission” of the deployment and the return of the Guard to state control — a move critics say would leave Californians vulnerable to further violence and unchecked illegal immigration.

Trump Stands Strong for National Security and Rule of Law

As chaos unfolds in Democrat-run cities, President Trump continues to stand firm on protecting American citizens, securing the border, and supporting our brave law enforcement officers.

While the radical Left plays politics with public safety, the Trump administration is proving once again that law and order come first — even when California won’t do its job.
