President Donald Trump didn’t hold back this weekend, delivering a powerful message to tech mogul Elon Musk: supporting Democrat candidates will come at a cost.
“If he does, he’ll have to pay the consequences,” Trump stated in a candid phone interview with NBC News.
While the President didn’t specify exactly what those consequences might be, his tone left no doubt—backing radical Democrats is a red line.
Trump Shuts the Door on Reconciliation
When asked if there was any chance of repairing his relationship with Musk, Trump was crystal clear.
“I would assume so, yeah,” he said when asked if the relationship was over.
In a separate conversation with Fox News’ Bret Baier, President Trump added that he has “no intention” of ever speaking to Musk again.
The sharp split comes after Musk publicly attacked the Trump-backed “Big Beautiful Bill,” legislation designed to put American taxpayers first and rein in reckless Washington spending.

Musk took to X (formerly Twitter) in a rage-filled post, calling the Trump-supported bill “a disgusting abomination.” He accused Congress of passing a “massive, pork-filled monstrosity,” despite wide support from fiscal conservatives across the country.

In since-deleted posts, Musk made unfounded accusations linking President Trump to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein—a smear many conservative commentators immediately denounced. He also reposted a call for Trump’s impeachment and suggested Vice President JD Vance should take over as Commander-in-Chief.
Trump Fires Back: “Elon’s Totally Lost It”
In an interview aired Friday, President Trump said what many Americans are thinking:
“Elon’s totally lost it.”
Later that day, Trump posted on Truth Social, taking Musk to task for what he called disloyal and delusional behavior:
“I’m not bothered that Elon switched sides—but if he was going to, he should’ve done it long ago. This bill is truly one of the most important ever brought before Congress. It sets our nation on a strong path forward. LET’S MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
