He added, “These are the same people who give away billions to other nations. We finally get something back, and they cry foul.”
Biden’s Bureaucracy Blamed for Project Delays
Trump’s team says the new Air Force One project fell victim to Biden-era mismanagement. Originally negotiated as a $3.9 billion fixed-price deal, the aircraft are now years behind.
A Defense Department official confirmed the temporary aircraft will not be handed over during Trump’s Middle East trip but emphasized the legal review is ongoing and fully transparent.
White House Press Secretary: “This Is 100% Legal and Above Board”
Karoline Leavitt, White House Press Secretary, dismissed any notion of a “quid pro quo,” saying on Fox & Friends:
“This is a donation to the Department of Defense, not a personal gift. Everything is being reviewed under federal law, and we’re fully transparent.”
She added that President Trump has always acted in the best interests of the American people.
Democrats Call for Ethics Investigation—Trump Fires Back
Despite the clear legal process, Democrats pounced. Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) called for an investigation, labeling the jet a “flying palace.”
But Trump loyalists say the outrage is pure politics. After all, past presidents have received gifts for the office, not themselves. These are logged, stored, and transferred to presidential libraries, not private hands—unless purchased legally from the federal government.
“This is standard protocol,” Leavitt told Fox Digital. “And we’re following it to the letter.”
