Schumer is in deep trouble.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is facing a political crisis after a newly released CNN poll revealed his approval rating has sunk to just 17%—the lowest among all congressional leaders. With 44% of Americans viewing him unfavorably, Schumer is now confronting growing concerns that he’s becoming a serious liability to the Democratic Party heading into the 2026 election cycle.
When confronted about the numbers by CNN’s Manu Raju, Schumer brushed it off. “Polls come and go,” the 74-year-old New York Democrat said, insisting that Democrats are “united” and focused on taking down former President Donald Trump.
But for millions of Americans—especially older voters worried about inflation, border security, and threats to Social Security and Medicare—Schumer’s dismissive attitude is part of the problem.
Later that evening, Schumer appeared on CNN again, where anchor Kaitlan Collins pressed him on the plummeting approval numbers. Was he concerned? “No,” he replied bluntly.
Instead, Schumer used the airtime to bash President Trump’s economic policies, especially the pro-America tariffs Trump implemented to protect U.S. industries from foreign abuse. Schumer announced that the Senate will vote to overturn those same tariffs—despite their success in boosting domestic manufacturing and pressuring unfair trade practices abroad.
For conservatives, this move is no surprise. Schumer has long supported globalist economic policies that benefit foreign competitors over American workers. His push to reverse Trump’s tariffs comes just as concerns rise over China, inflation, and declining retirement security for middle-class seniors.
“We’re fighting every day,” Schumer said. But with approval ratings in freefall and independent voters fleeing the Democrat agenda, many are asking: Who is Chuck Schumer really fighting for?
