Democrats are losing their mind about this.

Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump is once again shaking up the establishment—this time by pausing more than $436 billion in federal spending, igniting outrage from top Democrats who claim the administration is withholding funds already approved by Congress.

Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) and Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) accuse the Trump White House of blocking massive sums across federal agencies—from the State Department to the Department of Transportation—in what they call an “unprecedented assault” on government programs. But for millions of American taxpayers, this bold move is exactly why they elected Trump: to stop the waste and take back control from bloated bureaucracies.

At the center of this effort is Elon Musk, now leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—an agency President Trump created to eliminate fraud, abuse, and far-left initiatives like Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). The administration says its mission is clear: protect taxpayer dollars, strengthen the economy, and return power to the people.

“Why should hardworking Americans keep funding broken systems and failed programs?” a White House spokesperson said.

According to data released by Murray and DeLauro, at least $436.87 billion is being withheld, frozen, or re-evaluated. That includes:

  • $42 billion in foreign aid through the State Department and USAID
  • $62 billion in grant programs under the Transportation Department
  • $943 million in early education programs like Head Start
  • Over $10 billion in environmental and climate-related agencies

Instead of rubber-stamping this spending, the Trump administration is demanding full accountability, refusing to release funds without reviewing where every dollar is going.

Democrats Cry Foul — But Americans Are Tired of Reckless Spending

In a joint statement, the Democrat lawmakers accused the administration of “ripping resources away from families,” while pushing for Trump to abandon his plan for $5 trillion in tax cuts aimed at revitalizing the economy and rewarding job creators.

They also criticized OMB Director Russ Vought and claimed the administration hasn’t responded to oversight inquiries. But critics say this is just political theater designed to protect the D.C. status quo.

“President Trump is doing what no one else in Washington has the courage to do—say no to runaway spending,” said a conservative policy expert.

As the administration marks its first 100 days, it remains clear that Trump is prioritizing fiscal responsibility, national sovereignty, and results—not political correctness or big-government handouts.
