The media is at it again.
President Donald Trump is confronting a wave of negative polling as he approaches the 100-day mark of his historic second term.
According to a series of newly released surveys, President Trump’s approval ratings have dipped, with some outlets declaring them the lowest for a new presidential term since World War II.
Yet despite the media hype, Trump’s core supporters remain fiercely loyal — and he continues to outperform Democrats on the issues that matter most to everyday Americans.
Five major polls — from CBS News, ABC/Washington Post, NBC News, CNN, and the New York Times — painted a mixed picture, showing declines particularly after Trump’s bold push to implement tariffs against America’s largest trading partners.
President Trump, however, remains confident that these policies will jumpstart a new era of American prosperity.
Posting Sunday on Truth Social, he reassured the nation:
“As tariffs take effect, many Americans could see their income taxes significantly lowered — possibly even eliminated altogether,” Trump said. “The main focus will be on individuals earning under $200,000 a year. In addition, we’re already seeing a surge in job creation, with new factories and manufacturing plants either under construction or in the planning stages. It’s going to be a massive boom.”
While liberal outlets highlight select poll numbers, they ignore key facts: Trump still outpaces Democrats on economic trust, immigration enforcement, and manufacturing growth — all pillars of the America First agenda.
The Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos survey placed Trump’s approval at 39% — notably lower than typical first-term presidents — with the mainstream media quick to note that it’s the lowest first-100-days rating since World War II.
However, among Republican voters, President Trump’s support remains sky-high, with nearly 90% standing firmly behind him.
Other polling outlets showed similar numbers:
- CBS News/YouGov: 45% approval
- NBC News: 45% approval
- New York Times/Siena College: 42% approval
- CNN: 41% approval
Important to note: Even with the early-term polling turbulence, Democrats are faring worse. Across battleground states and among working-class voters, Trump remains the stronger choice.
While NBC found that 42% of Americans “strongly disapprove,” the media overlooks the loyalty factor: a whopping 94% of Trump’s 2024 voters express no regrets — a testament to his enduring support among hardworking Americans.
Economic unease, fueled by fearmongering over trade tariffs, is driving some of the current polling trends. Yet when comparing Trump to his predecessor, the contrast is clear: Trump’s economic approval (39%) already exceeds Joe Biden’s disastrous marks at the same point in his presidency.
On trade, voters remain divided but hopeful:
- NBC News reports 39% approval of Trump’s trade approach.
- CBS/YouGov notes tariff support has softened slightly, dropping from 52% to 41%.
Still, Americans recognize Trump’s focus on rebuilding the nation’s industrial base and protecting U.S. jobs.
Surveys consistently show the economy is the top concern for voters. Despite relentless media negativity, President Trump continues to be seen as the candidate most capable of steering America back to economic strength.
CBS/YouGov also found that 48% of adults feel financially worse off today — exposing the failures of pre-Trump globalist policies, not his America First reforms.
On immigration, Trump is delivering real leadership:
- NBC: 49% approval of Trump’s immigration handling
- CBS/YouGov: 56% approval for his deportation efforts
Next Tuesday, President Trump will headline a major rally in Macomb County, Michigan — a key heartland battleground — where thousands are expected to turn out in celebration of the president’s accomplishments.
Poll Details:
- NBC News: 19,682 adults surveyed (April 11–20, margin of error ±2.2%)
- CBS News/YouGov: 2,356 adults surveyed (April 23–25, margin of error ±2.4%)
- Washington Post-ABC-Ipsos: 2,464 adults surveyed (April 18–22, margin of error ±2%)
- New York Times/Siena College: 913 registered voters surveyed (April 21–24, margin of error ±3.8%)
- CNN: 1,678 adults surveyed (April 17–24, margin of error ±2.9%)
The Bottom Line:
Even as the media attempts to paint a grim picture, President Trump’s leadership remains strong. His movement is thriving, and his America First policies continue to offer real hope for millions of hardworking families.
