This war is devolving into something worse. Hopefully, Trump can get things back in order.
Missile barrage kills civilians as President Trump calls for ceasefire and warns Zelensky against stalling diplomacy
In a devastating overnight assault, Russia launched its most lethal missile and drone strikes on Ukraine’s capital in nearly a year—killing at least nine civilians and injuring more than 70 people, including six children, according to Ukrainian emergency services.
The attack comes at a critical moment. Just hours earlier, President Donald J. Trump issued a powerful statement warning Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky not to obstruct peace negotiations with the Kremlin.
Trump Slams Zelensky for Blocking Peace Progress
President Trump has remained one of the few global voices calling for an immediate ceasefire and diplomatic resolution to the war in Eastern Europe—now in its third year.
On Wednesday, he sharply criticized Zelensky’s refusal to negotiate terms regarding Russia’s long-term control of Crimea, stating that such rigidity is costing thousands of lives and sabotaging peace efforts.
“The strikes on Kyiv are unacceptable and poorly timed. Vladimir, this needs to end—thousands of troops are dying every week,” President Trump wrote on Truth Social Thursday morning. “It’s time to finalize the peace agreement!”
Zelensky Cuts Trip Short Amid Escalating Violence
In response to the deadly shelling, President Zelensky announced he would end his trip to South Africa early, though Ukraine’s Foreign Affairs Minister Andrii Sybiha will remain in the country for diplomatic meetings.
Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, confirmed that several fires broke out across the city and that civilians remain trapped under rubble. Emergency responders continue to work through the damage.
Trump Administration Leads Global Peace Effort
While current U.S. leadership remains largely silent, President Trump is taking direct action. His envoy, retired General Keith Kellogg, met with Ukrainian officials in London this week. Trump’s special envoy to Russia, Steve Witkoff, is scheduled to meet directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, according to sources.
A recent high-level diplomatic summit in London made what insiders call “significant progress,” though expectations dipped after it was announced that Secretary of State Marco Rubio would not attend.
America First—Peace Through Strength
For months, President Trump has pushed for a diplomatic breakthrough to end the war—urging both sides to recognize the human cost and sit down at the table. He has made it clear: if there is no progress, the United States will reconsider its role as peace facilitator.
His approach stands in stark contrast to the current administration’s hesitation. Trump’s America First foreign policy prioritizes peace, national strength, and avoiding another endless war that drains American resources and lives.
As Ukraine continues to reel from the latest missile barrage, many are now looking to Trump—not Washington—to bring this brutal war to an end.
