Fox Host Announces Governor Run
(April 2025) — Conservative commentator and former Fox News host Steve Hilton has officially launched his campaign for Governor of California, delivering a powerful message against the decades of Democrat control that he says have left the state broken, unsafe, and unaffordable.
In a bold campaign announcement video posted to X (formerly Twitter), Hilton laid out his journey from growing up in London to becoming a U.S. citizen and outspoken American patriot. His message was clear: California is in crisis—and it’s time to take it back from the radical left.
“California means to America what America means to the world,” Hilton said. “Let’s make this state the land of opportunity again: safe neighborhoods, good-paying jobs, affordable homes, and strong families.”
🔴 Targeting Democrat Corruption and Failure
Hilton directly blamed Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, and other powerful Democrats for the state’s devastating decline. The video featured striking images of Los Angeles homelessness, rising crime rates, and economic collapse under Democrat leadership.
“There’s only one way to fix this,” Hilton declared. “We must end the one-party Democrat rule that destroyed this beautiful state. It’s time for real change.”
🔵 Democrats in Disarray: 2026 Primary Showdown
With Gov. Gavin Newsom term-limited, the 2026 California governor’s race is wide open. Hilton joins Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, another Republican candidate focused on law and order, border security, and constitutional freedoms.
Meanwhile, Democrats are scrambling. Kamala Harris, still reeling from her failed presidential run, hasn’t confirmed whether she’ll enter the race. Other liberal candidates include far-left Rep. Katie Porter and former HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, both of whom support the same big-government policies that have failed Californians for years.
🇺🇸 Proven Conservative Leadership
Hilton, 55, brings a strong conservative background to the table. A former advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Hilton moved to California in 2012 with his wife, who worked at Google, while he taught at Stanford University. From 2017 to 2023, he hosted “The Next Revolution” on Fox News, where he regularly championed America First, common-sense conservatism, and election integrity.
He also founded Crowdpac, a tech platform aimed at political reform and grassroots empowerment.
🟠 Pro-Trump. Pro-Freedom. Pro-America.
A longtime supporter of President Donald Trump, Hilton has been an outspoken critic of Democrat election practices, censorship, and the weaponization of government against conservatives.
“This election is a life-or-death moment for California,” Hilton told Fox News Digital. “We must fight back before it’s too late.”
🔚 It’s Time to Make California Golden Again
“This isn’t just a campaign,” Hilton said in closing. “It’s a movement. A movement to restore faith, family, and freedom in the Golden State. I’m running to make California truly golden again.”
