Democrat-led states lose major battle as Trump advances bold reform plan
Washington, D.C. – In a decisive victory for President Donald Trump’s administration, the U.S. Supreme Court has allowed the Department of Education to move forward with cutting over $600 million in teacher training grants tied to controversial Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs. The decision delivers a powerful blow to eight liberal-leaning states that sought to block the cuts in federal court.
Trump’s Education Overhaul Gains Ground
The Biden-era grant programs—originally aimed at addressing teacher shortages—had morphed into vehicles for advancing far-left ideologies in public education. President Trump’s administration, determined to restore merit-based education and equal treatment, acted decisively to shut down funding for what it called “divisive and discriminatory” DEI agendas.
On February 17, the Department of Education notified grant recipients that it would no longer support organizations promoting race-based, gender-based, or politically biased hiring practices in schools. Liberal states including California, New York, Illinois, and New Jersey quickly filed suit.
Liberal Judges Attempt to Block Reform
U.S. District Judge Myong Joun—appointed by Democrats—ruled that the Education Department may have violated administrative law by cutting the funding without a lengthy review process. He issued a temporary restraining order demanding the money be reinstated while the lawsuit continued.
But the Supreme Court stepped in, freezing that order and siding with the Trump administration.
Trump: “We’re Taking Back Control of Our Schools”
President Trump, with support from top adviser Elon Musk, has made dismantling the Department of Education a cornerstone of his second-term agenda. On March 20, he signed an executive order initiating the process to eliminate the agency entirely—making good on a decades-old promise to restore local control and traditional values in education.
Although fully abolishing the department requires congressional approval, Trump’s executive order is already shifting the national conversation—and shaking up the education establishment.
Supreme Court Majority Signals Support
The court’s 6-3 conservative majority, which includes three justices appointed by President Trump, sided with the administration’s argument that unelected judges should not control how federal funds are distributed. Legal experts see this as part of a broader trend: restoring executive authority and reining in judicial activism.
PRESIDENT TRUMP IS TRYING TO SAVE OUR CHILDREN. OUR COUNTRY. TO SAD THAT WE HAVE SO MANY DEMOCRATS AGAINST OUR NATION AND OUR CITIZENS. TRUMP IS THE ONLY ONE THAT EVER STOOD UP FOR AMERICA. WHILE DEMOCRATS ARE ONLY ABOUT POWER AND FILLING THEIR POCKETS.
