Is Trump Selling America Out To Russia Like Democrats Claim?

Canadian Leader Calls Trump A What?

Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston recently took aim at President Donald Trump, calling him a “short-sighted man” and announcing his province’s plan to counter Trump’s 25-percent tariffs on Canadian goods. In a post on X, Houston expressed frustration with the impact of Trump’s decision, not just on Canada but also on American workers.

“President Trump’s actions show a disregard for the economic consequences of his policies,” Houston said. “These tariffs do nothing but create uncertainty and disrupt both Canadian and American businesses, showing a lack of foresight for the broader damage being done.”

The tariffs, which came into effect this week, include a 25-percent levy on Canadian and Mexican goods and a 10-percent tariff on Chinese imports. This new economic burden has raised concerns about the potential ripple effects, with market instability already taking root.

In retaliation, Canada imposed a 25-percent tariff on $30 billion in U.S. goods, with Mexico expected to follow suit. Houston made it clear that Nova Scotia would not stand idly by in the face of these punitive measures.

“We will respond forcefully,” he said, announcing several retaliatory actions. Nova Scotia will block American companies from bidding on provincial government contracts, and will actively seek to cancel existing deals. Furthermore, the province plans to double tolls for U.S. commercial vehicles on a major highway, the Cobequid Pass, and will remove U.S. alcohol from provincial liquor stores.

Houston underscored that these measures were a direct result of Trump’s unjust tariffs. “We’ve seen this tactic work before, and we know it hurts American producers who depend on Canadian markets,” he noted, referring to the temporary delay Trump once agreed to before implementing the tariffs.

The Premier also stressed Nova Scotia’s push to increase trade opportunities both globally and with other Canadian provinces, emphasizing the need for economic stability and cooperation in uncertain times. While Houston acknowledged the frustration many feel, he also called on his fellow citizens to remain committed to responding in a way that best serves their interests without fueling further discord.
