Trump Makes New Endorsement

President Donald Trump delivered a major boost to conservative candidate Ty Masterson on Sunday by officially endorsing him in the Republican primary race for governor of Kansas.

The endorsement instantly reshapes the high-profile GOP contest and strengthens Masterson’s standing among America First voters across the deep-red state.

In a Truth Social post, Trump praised Masterson as a proven conservative fighter, successful entrepreneur, and strong defender of Kansas values.

“Ty Masterson has my complete and total endorsement to be the next governor of Kansas,” Trump declared.

The endorsement is expected to carry significant weight heading into the Aug. 4 Republican primary, especially in a state where Trump dominated in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 presidential elections.

Kansas Republicans have closely aligned with Trump’s America First movement in recent years, making his support one of the most valuable political endorsements in the race.

Masterson quickly embraced the president’s backing and highlighted his commitment to the same conservative priorities that helped fuel Trump’s political success nationwide.

Masterson said President Donald Trump reshaped the nation by prioritizing border security, reducing taxes, expanding American energy production, and focusing on the needs of working Americans. He added that in Kansas, he has pushed similar conservative policies by supporting tax relief, protecting individual freedoms, and opposing what he described as the far-left agenda.

Masterson has spent nearly two decades serving in the Kansas Legislature and currently leads the state Senate. Supporters view him as a dependable conservative voice on taxes, law enforcement, border security, and traditional values.

Trump’s endorsement has become one of the defining issues in the gubernatorial race, with several Republican candidates competing to show voters they are best positioned to continue the president’s America First agenda.

Among the Republicans seeking the governor’s office are former Kansas Gov. Jeff Colyer and Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab, both of whom have emphasized their conservative credentials throughout the campaign.

Political analysts have compared the current race to Kansas’s closely watched 2018 Republican gubernatorial primary, when Trump endorsed former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach over Colyer.

Kobach narrowly captured the GOP nomination before losing the general election to Democrat Laura Kelly, who later won reelection in 2022.

Colyer has continued reminding voters of Trump’s praise during the 2018 campaign, when the president described him at a rally in Topeka as “a man of incredible integrity and class.”

Other Republicans running for governor include Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt, businessman Philip Sarnecki, Charlotte O’Hara, Joy Eakins, and Stacy Rogers.

In his endorsement message, Trump described Masterson as a “highly successful” businessman who has dedicated years to serving his community and fighting for conservative policies.

Trump also said Masterson would work to protect Kansas farmers and ranchers, strengthen the economy, cut taxes and burdensome regulations, expand American energy production, support law enforcement, secure the border, stop migrant crime, defend military families, and protect Second Amendment rights if elected governor.

For many Kansas conservatives, Trump’s endorsement signals that Masterson is the candidate most closely aligned with the America First movement heading into one of the state’s most important Republican primaries in years.
