Democrat Raises Eyebrows With New Win

The battle for Michigan’s governorship in 2026 is officially on—and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Left-wing Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson (D) is already boasting a massive $3.5 million campaign haul since launching her gubernatorial bid earlier this year.

Benson’s campaign claims over 27,000 donations from all 83 Michigan counties, with 95% of the contributions reportedly under $100. As of now, she holds more than $2.4 million in campaign cash, making her the top fundraiser in the Democratic field.

To put it in perspective, Benson’s war chest more than doubles what Gov. Gretchen Whitmer raised at this point in her first run back in 2017. Clearly, the radical wing of the Democratic Party is getting organized—and well-funded.

But Benson isn’t the only Democrat running. Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II has pulled in over $750,000, while former Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson has raised more than $1 million. Despite their efforts, a recent poll from the Detroit Regional Chamber shows Benson dominating the primary race with nearly 60% support—while her competitors remain in the single digits. Still, over 25% of Democrat voters say they’re undecided, which could shake up the race.

Democrat power brokers are already lining up behind Benson. Her campaign manager brags that this “record-breaking” fundraising haul proves she’s ready to take on any Republican or independent challenger in November.

🔴 Conservatives Step Up: Republican Field Packed with Strong Contenders

The Republican side of the race is heating up fast—and Michigan conservatives have reason to be excited.

Popular Rep. John James, State Senate Leader Aric Nesbitt, former House Speaker Tom Leonard, and former Attorney General Mike Cox are all gunning for the GOP nomination. Cox has already raised $2.4 million, with nearly $1.9 million in cash-on-hand—a serious threat to any Democrat’s ambitions.

And there’s more. Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, a former Democrat, is now running as an independent, potentially splitting the liberal vote and giving Republicans a clear shot at flipping the state red.

🗳️ All Eyes on Michigan in 2026

With millions pouring in, high-profile candidates stepping up, and the Cook Political Report rating the race a “toss-up,” Michigan is set to be one of the most-watched elections in the country.

This governor’s race could decide whether the Great Lakes State continues down a far-left path—or if common-sense conservative leadership is restored.
