Trump looks to have buried the hatchet with a Democrat who initially hated him.
President Donald Trump shocked Washington by praising a Democrat — D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser — for working with his administration to restore law and order in the nation’s capital.
Trump credited Bowser with cooperating on the National Guard deployment, saying Washington, D.C. has now become “a crime-free zone.”
“Wow! Mayor Muriel Bowser of D.C. has become very popular because she worked with me and my great people in bringing CRIME down to virtually NOTHING,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Trump Praises Bowser – Slams Other Blue State Leaders
The president contrasted Bowser’s cooperation with far-left leaders like Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, and California Gov. Gavin “Newscum” Newsom.
According to Trump, these Democrats spend more time making excuses for violent crime instead of joining forces to stop it.
Crime Numbers Show a Big Drop in Washington
Mayor Bowser herself admitted the crackdown is working. Since August:
- Carjackings dropped 87%
- Violent crime overall fell 45%
“When homicide, robbery, and gun crime go down, neighborhoods feel safer and are safer,” Bowser said.
Trump also suggested Bowser’s approval rating has surged since teaming up with his administration.
Trump: Why Not New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles?
Trump used Bowser’s cooperation as proof that his approach works — and he urged other Democrat-run cities drowning in crime to follow her lead.
“Imagine being able to say the same thing about Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, or even crime-ravaged Baltimore. It could turn around quickly — but only if their leaders decide to work with us!”
Trump said he is open to deploying the National Guard in New York, if Gov. Kathy Hochul requests it. “I’d love to do it if she’d like,” he said.
Results of Trump’s Crime Crackdown
Attorney General Pam Bondi revealed the numbers since the crackdown began:
- 1,599 arrests in Washington, D.C.
- 165 illegal guns seized off the streets
National Guard troops aren’t arresting people directly but are patrolling neighborhoods, assisting the Metropolitan Police, and backing up the FBI and U.S. Park Police.
Trump Issues a Warning – “Don’t Go Woke”
Trump congratulated Bowser but reminded her not to fall back into liberal policies.
“Credit to Mayor Muriel Bowser — but stay away from the woke nonsense. Washington, D.C. is a huge win, and it should remain that way forever!”
A Rare Victory for Law and Order
Bowser’s cooperation comes months after Trump dismantled “Black Lives Matter Plaza” near the White House — a move critics attacked, but many residents quietly welcomed.
For Trump, the success in Washington proves his law-and-order strategy works. For Bowser, it’s a rare boost in popularity.
